Metolius River in Spring - A Wednesday Walk
I usually like to take this walk in fall as the changing colors are magnificent. I decided to change things up a bit and do a spring time walk. I was not disappointed. While there was not a lot of color, the lush shades of emerging green were quite fantastic. So follow along as I take a Wednesday walk along the Metolius River in Central Oregon.

There are many small islands along this part of the river. This one has a bridge to it that allows the occupants of one of the many cabins along the river to access the island.
A little further down river another small island.
Only one type of fishing allowed on this river. 😀
I've seen lots of smaller fish gathered in this little natural holding area in the past.
Unfortunately there were none to be seen on this trip.
A look back up river.
A grassy green meadow near a campground. An excellent place to lounge around and enjoy nature.
A little further down the trail the start of a boardwalk through a sometimes quite marshy area. There were many birds here in the bushes. The melodious sounds of their calls made this stretch of the walk quite enjoyable.
Some of the new growth along the boardwalk. I believe this is Corn Lily an extremely poisonous plant.
An Osprey fishing along the river. I don't think the rules for fly fishing apply to him. 😉
Sadly my approach down the trail made him decide to find better fishing further down river.
Some more lush greenery lining the river.
Yikes, more poisonous Corn Lily. Kind of pretty though. 🙂
I believe this is Oregon Grape.
And a last shot of one of the cabins along the river.

This is heaven. How perfect and amazing for fly fishing is that river. And apparently no riff-raff allowed. :D
Almost makes me wish I was a fisherman. :)
I'm a very casual dabbler. It's a great way to explore those ancient hunting programs still rattling around in my head.
I use to go out once in a blue moon. It has been years now though.
Flying fish, they are the worst. ;)
😄
love all the shades of green such a beautiful spot
Thanks for joining the Wednesday Walk
Have a great day
Thank you! You too.
Ospreys are awesome predators! Seeing a fish in their talons is just out of this world.
I would like to be able to catch that on camera!
Thanks for taking us on another lovely walk! ^^
There are a lot of interesting things to see around.
It must be nice to hang around the area and paint... ^^
PS: Can I use some of your photos for painting references someday? :)
Yes you may. Thank you for asking. :)
Yaaay~! Thanks a lot! ^^
You're welcome. :)
When you do that, tag me ... I love both of your visual productions so I am really interested in seeing a collaboration!
