Favorite Views in my Town - SB Chronicles #3
In my small community of Sisters, Oregon there is a road on the edge of town that has some spectacular views. It is a long stretch of road with plenty of area to pull over and admire the views. The main attraction here is the mountain peaks known as The Three Sisters. Of course this is where the town derives its name from as it is only a scant 12 miles to the closest peak. Follow along as I share some pictures and stories of why this is one of my favorite places in my town. You will also see how the scenery changes through the seasons. 🙂
No matter the season there is almost always an ever changing view of The Three Sisters. They are usually identified as the North(right), Middle and South Sister but they are also called Faith, Hope and Charity on occasion. A name given to them by early settlers of the region.

Before we moved here 8 years ago we use to go to this spot to enjoy the mountain views. It was one of the things that attracted us to this area.
However a couple months after moving here we were introduced to one of the hazards of living here, wildfire.
All ended well though and soon we were back to enjoying the fantastic views.
In addition to mountain views, sunrise in this location can also be spectacular. This was one of the better ones I have probably ever seen.
Like the views of the mountains though they are ever changing.
Of course sometimes the mountains like to get in on the sunrise action also. 😉
I took a lot of these sunrise photos of the mountains while eating a breakfast sandwich. The perfect way to start the day.
And while I don't take a lot of sunset photos here this starburst shot of the sun going down behind the North Sister is one of my favorites.
The first snowfall in a late September shot.
A ray of light shining on the Middle Sister.
A heavy snowfall blocks the pull over area along the road. The brown horizontal line is the top of the fence almost buried.
And a few days later the skies have cleared and a wonderful winter scene ensues.
Hoar frost on the fence.
A coyote passing through the fields
A less than stellar day for viewing the mountains due to wildfire.
Some more of the wildlife that likes to visit the area.
And my last shot taken a few weeks ago. Hope you enjoyed the tour!

What a magnificent set of photographs about a magnificent place!
It took me a while to figure out what to post about for this subject. As I was scrolling through my archive of photos I realized how many shots I had taken from this area. The ideas seemed to flow after that.

Stunning photography through moods viewing the mountains, open fields skirted by forests I would imagine fires would run wild.
You found a piece of paradise living where you are situated.
Thank you! Yeah, the wildfire danger seems to grow greater each year unfortunately. May have to relocate at some point but most of the western US is having issues so not sure where to go. lol
Clearing dead wood or building proper fire breaks help, when fires take hold in high winds not much stops them. Modern day living very few are paying attention to the way it used to be done.
The forest service here does do prescribed burns to try to stay ahead but there is just so much open land it's hard to keep up. Plus we are now cutting back resources so not sure things will get much better on that front.
With the majority of wildfires human caused there is definitely a lack of understanding of how quickly fire can spread and the things you need to do to prevent fires.
Resources in the forests, allow people to utilize within the homes by collecting. We suffer massive fires caused by humans, many very questionable as to intent. Crazy ideals and ideology running rampant of late one needs to get back to the basics again.
I was hoping you would join in chronicles 3!
The three sisters are simply amazing and what a special backdrop to photographs you have on your doorstep. Awesome wildlife I love that coyote strolling around like that.
Wildfires do they occur every year, I hope nature and not arson that causes them.
The starburst sunset gets my vote for the sunrise/sunsets shots.
It took me a while to get involved but I finally found some inspiration. :)
Most of the wildfires are human caused unfortunately. Not always intentional but we seem to be a fairly careless species when it comes to protecting things that are important. Lightening does account for some of them though. It is a yearly event sadly.
I think I actually took that photo for some initiative here on Hive but cannot recall what it was for the life of me. :)
Yes people are careless and don't realise what they do half the time.
Well I am glad you got some inspiration!
That scenery is breathtaking!!! It is wonderful and your photos are spectacular.
Seeing that beautiful scenery, I can't think of a better way to start the day.
Thank you very much for joining the chronicles
Happy weekend!
I've been meaning to join for a while. I finally got inspired enough to write something. :)
Stunning and serene 👌
It is a special place for me.
