Being that you already have some roots in Denmark, and that "the average person is likely much better off in Denmark than in the USA", have you considered relocating for the end game?

We have considered it. However, it would largely mean "giving up" the kids and grandkids... they wouldn't be able to afford going there for visits, and vice versa for us, so the option is off the table... at least for now.
