What Matters To You?
In life it's easier to get distracted. There are so many things we want to do and we know we can do but we sometimes lose focus. There are distractions here and there as expected to everything we want to pursue in life. We need to find time for those things that matters to us. We go in day in and day out and we lose focus on the things that matters whether legit barriers or self inflicted barriers.
Barriers:
Uncleared Valleys - Unclear Values:
If you don't know your values it is hard to know what to focus on. You need to define what you want in life else others will define it for you. When a defining moment comes, define the moment or else the moment will define you.
Unclear Expectations:
We all have expectations and we have the things we want to push to attain in life but the reality of life is, we can't have it ALL. We need to make realistic expectations and focus on the things that takes precedence in our life. Don't be blown away by the wind of anything that works. You can manage your time but you can't stretch your time. Stop focusing on unrealistic expectations else it would hinder your progress in life. Stop running all over the place because you will have your energy drained and you won't have strength for anything meaningful. Have a defined line in life.
What To Do?
Define Your Priorities:
There are things that are urgent and there are things that are important. Some things might be important and not urgent. Ability to filter them and know what to chase after would determine how successful you will be in life. Most people have left the urgent to chase after the wind. They want to do everything at once and that's a recipe for failure. You can't do everything...you can't own everything. There are some things that come to us or things we can achieve in life that is subject to timing which cannot be forced. When you force it, you will crash. If you cannot afford it...avoid it.
Be Focused:
This cannot be stressed enough. There are important things we need to focus on. When we focus on the things that doesn't make sense, we keep going round in circles and we confuse stationary movement with progress. You can keep moving around in circles and still that doesn't count for progress since you are still stuck in the same sphere. Major on the important things. Don't minor on the major...and don't major on the minor. Know what's important to you and focus on it.
Plan Ahead:
If you don't have a seed on the ground, what will the Lord bless? God is a planner and we have to plan ahead. Nothing happens by chance. We have to be deliberate with the things we want to achieve in life. What do you want to achieve? Draw up a plan on how to achieve it. Be intentional. Be deliberate.
Lighten Up Your Attitude and Focus on God:
We focus too much on ourselves and even our problems that we forget to let the little things of life inspire us and make our heart light. We have to turn our focus on God and it helps to ease up the burdens in our hearts.

When they discovered their friend is prospering in what he /she is doing, they will leave their target and keep pursuing other people's dreams.
All in the name of "I want to belong".

Hmm... This is mainly common amongst the young ones, the youth.
This all boils down to you having a goal. One without no goal or aim in life tends to just derail at a certain point and just flow with the crowd.
Just have a goal and train your mind to focus on it. I guess this will solve a lot of issues though it's easier said than done, and that's when God comes in🤲
That's the point, focus.
A lot of things are there to cause distraction but one needs to focus and never allow that distraction to empower one.
Distraction would always manifest and that's how we know those who are focused and those who aren't...you know what's important to you by the things that takes away your attention.
It's sad but some adults fall victim of this too especially those who want to impress and have no clear expectations for themselves. It's really sad though.
This is right. I have seen a lot of people do this. They have no clear definition on what they want to do. They just want to do what's in vogue. They keep moving left, right and center and they wonder why they are confused.
This is absolutely spot on. I share the same thought too. They move everywhere and in every direction with no clear expectations. They just leave things to chances.
Most people pursue other people's dreams. They leave what they should do and start doing what they are not equipped to do. They want to "belong" as you have rightly said.

Truth is that we've all got the same 24hours just like everyone else... What differentiates everyone is just the scale of their preference.
Whatever you call important becomes important to you, there's certainly no magic about that.
Most times, what distracts us are even things that aren't worth taking our time but the problem is that we've already made ourselves available for distractions and they will always come and take the better part of us.. too sad.
This really says a lot... A man without planning is certainly planned already to fail.
When we don't have well clearly defined goals, whatever comes around becomes our goal and we're led instead of leading.

I could wholly relate to the part where you said: "unclear expectations" the truth is you definitely need to have a specific expectation so you could narrow your mind towards it and divert more attention and resources into achieving it.
If you try to make the most out of every single opportunity which comes your way, you might end up achieving none of them.
When your expectations are not clear there is no way you won't jump on just anything and that way it's easier to keep chasing the wrong things. That Unclear Expectations part hits me because it is the reality of life.
Jump on anything and chasing the wind. That's it! Most people fall victim of this as they want to do too much and end up doing nothing.
It's about narrowing down our minds so we can exercise focus on what needs to be done. We need to take out unclear expectations and do what's expected. That's the only way to achieve as much as we should.

As you can see, the current situation has made it very difficult to live, but parents are also providing all facilities to their children. Because nothing in this world can be more important to parents than children.
