14 Years Today Without You...

IMG_20140615_134618.jpg

Another year without you mama...no touch, no hold
Every night seem to be colder without you, I am cold
It's 14 years now and counting since you left, leaving your clothes in fold
There is no denying how warm you can be...a human of treasure and gold
Time heals all wounds I've been told but how come this doesn't get healed with 14 years apart?
It gets better with time, every time I have been told
But this hasn't been easier because everything reminds me of you
What's Mother's Day without you to wish
I can't escape it even if I want to because everything points to you
There is no day that your presence isn't missed, - every single day
But there you are, six feets under... on the ground where you lay
Just as the last full month you spent 14 years ago was in May
You lived your life focused on God and what you can do, regardless of what others say
You decided to work for God and joined the choir in your old age
You sang your heart out to free yourself out of the cage
You knew...you felt anew and you definitely turned the new page
Your life is simple and you kept to yourself not wanting anyone to invade your space
I have that bit about you - me to myself and guiding my place

14 years ma...whooping 14 years, exactly today ma...exactly today. I don't get tired of writing and talking about you and dad. I wrote something similar to this some years back and I always find a way to tweak it and it still makes sense because I don't want to lose that bit part of the feelings I had when I wrote this poem. It's like I don't want to be out of touch with that feeling... guarding and guiding it with every ounce of blood in me.

Sleep on, dearest mama. I loved you then, I love you now even with the distance between us and always will...

Thank you for your time.

My pen doesn't bleed, it speaks, with speed and ease.

Knowing that mom ended her journey in Christ is a big win for her, I have known you for sometime and I can tell how much you love and miss not just her but dad and your older sister as well.

Death is inevitable and we can only pray for them to continue to stay at God's right hand while we also walk on the path of righteous so that our struggles on earth won't be in vain.

14years is a long time and I am sure she will be happy seeing that you have become a great man.

Wow, I didn't know his sister and Dad had also passed.
Death really does not care or discriminate.

Like you said, it is great that she ended her journey with her Lord and Savior

Our time will end here one day but we don't know when, we should live according to God's will on earth.

Death doesn't discriminate. Life happens and I have had my fair share of life taking loved ones away...they made me stronger and helped me to focus more on God.

One of the greatest win there ever is.... A death in Christ Jesus.

while we also walk on the path of righteous so that our struggles on earth won't be in vain.

This is certainly the price we have to pay our good parents for the work they did so that at the last day, we might get to see them once more.

That's the deal, everything about life will end one day. I have seen someone mock Christians about the world ending one day.

I made him realise that we humans make the world and as we leave here, our world automatically ends.

What's the gain if all our struggles here amount to nothing in the end?

So many people lack understanding and they attack what they don't understand. I hope and pray they receive the light before it's too late. Now is the time we can make the changes and the difference.

Deep but true. It's not about bringing the journey to a halt, it's about how you utilized your time in the course of the journey.

Death is just inevitable, we will all die someday. The question is: how did you live your life on this ephemeral Earth?

I'm glad she ended with Christ; that's all that matters.

The things we do during the journey is what really matters, we should always put our destination afterlife as a priority.

Afterlife is the goal. All we go through in life should lead us to that eternal life.

That's all that matters. All earthly achievements would fade and they are nothing in comparison to having Christ and gaining eternity which should be the goal. Thanks a lot for this.

She ended on a good note and I saw that part too. That's a massive win. Earth's loss is Heaven's gain. She fought the good fight and now she's resting.

That's very thoughtful of you, win on Earth is pointless when we lose out on heaven...

Heaven should be the goal.

Earth's loss... Heaven's gain. That's a good choice of word and that's absolutely comforting. Thank you so much.

Wow, 14 years is pretty long time ago but wound like this are forever fresh every single day, I'm sure she definitely proud of you among the angel she is and I'm sure you try to create enough memories while she was still here because it is what matter at the end of the day. From this picture I can she was beautiful and a beautiful smile too... Continue to rest on ma'am, we sure miss you and your son is doing extremely great, he is me mentor on here.

They never heal, never.
And you are always reminded whenever there is a celebration as such... Father's Day, mother's Day and the likes of them.
It's always sad but then what can we do, death is really inevitable 🤧

Sorry about that brother.

It does happen, i guess it's life For you. Just relax your mind and let the pain ease off naturally.

Let those scars heal. She's lived her life, now it's time to live yours. We're just in a constant phase that goes on and on...

Sad to here. I can feel your pain because my mom has also passed away from this world for five years and living without her is not easy at all. Our conditions were also very down, today we have good conditions but we don't have our mother. Whenever there is a function inside the house or a person goes for a walk somewhere, then there is a lot of memory, but the reality of the world are that one day we all have to leave this world.

years and living without her is not easy at all.

It can never be easy because nothing could replace the joy that comes from seeing our mothers alone... They are God's priceless gift to humans.

Such a sad reality about this world.. the fact that one day will come and you won't really be seen around.

May we be fortunate enough to leave great legacies so that we might be remembered for our good works.

May the soul of your mum keep resting in peace

You are absolutely right all the people in this world can never replace a mother because no one can love her children as much as she does.

They can try but they can never replace mothers. There are so many histories and memories with bonds and connections that mothers forged with their children which no money can buy.

It's never easy without our mothers. Mothers are special. Always go the extra length and wouldn't care as long as they are doing it for the children. I missed mine too.

Fourteen years is indeed a long time. But the pain of losing a Mother is incomparable. I do hope you always remain strong. Death is just inevitable and most times we need to focus on what is at hand and never let past impinge on our present.

Memorials like this are indeed, important. I pray she rests on 🕊️✨

That pain is incomparable and unmatched. Mothers are gods and to lose them is like losing a part of us. 14 years is a long time.

They are gods and 14 years is indeed a long time. It feels like yesterday with every single year passing. She's in a better place and I believe she ended well. For that, I am glad.

Wow 14 years, Very nice tribute towards your mother, it must be very difficult to process all that, in the end the only thing in common we all have is death, but beyond all that I am of those who think and affirm that as long as you have her always present in your thoughts, her phrases, customs, talking to your family and friends about her and deep in your heart, believe me she is not completely gone, again a great poem in commemoration of the passing of your lady mother, I send you a hug and strength for what is to come ♥

Exactly bro.
Once her legacies lives on, I too believe that she's not entirely gone.
You just can't see her physically but she's always Guiding your paths

Right, because in the end those who die for life cannot be called dead, that legacy will pass from generation to generation, it will always be in your mind and in your heart ♥

"In the end, the only thing we all have in common is death." This is a well constructed statement.

No matter what we do or who we are, we'll someday leave this Earth behind and all that'll be left of us is our memories, legacies, and deeds. This is why we need to ensure our existence isn't wholly centered ourselves but on those who need care, assistance, and love.

Death does not discriminate if you are rich, poor, tall, short, what good is it to gather riches if you can not take them with you when we leave the earthly plane, and as you say, what will remain of us are the memories we have with other people and our actions ♥

This is so touching.

I understand the part of writing about her so that you don't forget her and the way she makes you feel. That's one of the hard parts of losing a loved one, making sure that their memories live on...

Your mom looks lovely and I'm sure she was the best mom to you and your siblings. I pray for the fortitude and strength for you to miss her and hold her near and dear to your heart knowing you won't see her for a while.

You have an angel watching over you now.

Nicely written🌹

We always want to keep their memories going. We don't ever want to lose any part of them as he has rightly said. We want to keep them close and forever in our hearts to keep them alive in our memories.

Such great gifts after mothers.... A priceless one indeed.

There's always a solution with the mothers.
They can and are willing to go at any length just to make sure that their children are okay

Wow, 14 years isn't a joke.
Though my parents are very much alive. But I can feel how much you have missed her.

Sometimes my mom comes around and helps with some house chores and whenever she's around my kids are always happy because they do have grandma's pets and love, which I did not have with my grandma.

The wound never heals.. not now, not tomorrow not till we lose our last breath.
Mothers are priceless gift to mankind.

You decided to work for God and joined the choir in your old age

May the good works of hers and the sacrifices she made never go unrewarded.

Don't know exactly what to say to you but I wish you a restful peace in God's abode and to you, can't tell you to heal because I know it can't but may you always find joy around you that will always make you happy that your mum left you with amazing gift even when she's no longer there

This is touching as no one ever wants to lose their mother. Mothers are special and priceless. You have held on for many years without her and I know she's watching over you. God will keep being there for you. She's smiling over you. She must have been so proud. Hugs for you.
