Today I just want to share one small story of a normal but memorable day in my life. It was not like a special day or anything, but sometimes the small days become big memories. And in the end, the best part of the day was when I ate my favorite chicken dish from one of my most liked shop. That shop may not look very fancy, but their food… I still remember the taste.

So, the day started little late. Actually, not little… quite late. I woke up around 9:20 AM. Now I don't know if you want to call that morning or almost afternoon, depend on your schedule. For me it was morning only because I slept quite late last night. That’s why my eyes opened late also. When I finally woke up and looked at my phone, there were already few missed calls from my parents. I got a bit nervous. Quickly I called back, then mummy said, “Main bas tumhe uthane ke liye phone kar rahi thi.” I felt relaxed. It’s so sweet when someone care for you like that.

After that I jumped from the bed and started getting ready. But honestly I didn’t do a proper shower. Hum log jahan se hai na, wahan ise ‘kauwa snaan’ kehte hai. That means, I just put water on body, put soap only on face and hair, and then quickly dry myself with towel. In 10 minute I was ready, went to my room and wore fresh clothes. I knew already I was late, so just rushed out for office without wasting any second.

Office was same as usual. In fact, from few days everything in office is going very normal. Too normal I will say. I have not received any special task from manager recently. There is one work I have to do which is server build, but that is still under discussion. The retirement discussion is pending from few days. Hopefully in two days it will happen. I say this because tomorrow is holiday due to Labour Day, so mostly the talk will happen day after tomorrow. Let’s see what happens.

Evening routine is quite fixed for me. Like most days, after work I go for walk. Today also we went out for walk in evening. Walks are refreshing. Sometimes we eat something, but today we didn’t eat anything. We just roamed here and there and had tea at the end, then returned back to PG.

When I reached back, the guy who stays in the next room – we call him bhaiya – he called me on phone and said, “Vishal, let’s go out to eat somewhere.” He didn’t come in person, just called. I said, “Where are we going?” Then he said, “I am already outside for some work but while returning I will come via Malleshwaram Circle. There is one very good shop on that side which serves best nonveg food. You just come till that area by metro, I will pick you up in return journey and we come back together by car.”

I was little tired after office but still I agreed. “Haan bhaiya, theek hai, chalte hai.” He also told that one guy from our PG is also coming with me so I don’t get confused in finding the place. So I got ready, then went to meet that PG guy. He was also getting ready. After few minute both of us left together and took metro.

When we reached Malleshwaram Circle, the place was looking amazing. So many lights, decorations were there on both side of road. Full crowd was present. So many people, mostly couples were roaming around. Honestly, the area is quite famous for couples. But we were there only for food. Hamara focus sirf khane pe tha. Toh hum seedha uss shop ki taraf gaye.

Now comes the main part – the food.

We reached bhaiya’s favourite shop. It is not a very big restaurant, but it's clean and neat. Small tables, smiling staff and that smell of grilled food in the air – it was already mouth watering. We sat down and bhaiya ordered something. Honestly, I don’t remember the name of the dish. But whatever it was, the chicken dish was amazing.

They had one scheme running – unlimited rice along with one full roasted chicken. Chicken was properly roasted, crispy from outside but juicy and soft inside. Along with that they gave mayonnaise and one red color chutney. That chutney I didn’t like much when I tasted it separately, but when I tried it with the chicken, it changed the flavour totally. It became super tasty.

Before the food came, they gave us watermelon juice in small glasses. It was cold, sweet and refreshing. One girl brought the juice and served with smile. After some time when she left and took away the empty glasses, one more waiter came and again put new watermelon juice on our table. Maybe he didn’t notice that we already got. But we didn’t say anything, we happily drank the second round also. It was that good.

Then the chicken came.

I cannot explain how happy I felt just by looking at that big roasted chicken. It was full – with legs, wings, breast all perfectly cooked. The outside layer had slight charring, and inside when I cut it with spoon, it was super soft. When I put the first bite in mouth, butter, spices, smokiness – all flavours danced together. The mayonnaise added creaminess and the chutney gave spicy kick. That combination was mind blowing.

We kept eating and talking. It didn’t even take 15 minutes to finish most of it. They served more rice when we asked. No attitude, no delay. Just good food and good service. After that meal, I was not only full, I was truly satisfied. It was one of those meals you don’t forget easily.

Now, let me tell you why this shop is my favourite. Not just because of this one time. I have come here many times before. They serve variety of chicken dishes – tandoori, grilled, curry, and my favourite… that simple roasted chicken dish. Every time I go, taste is same. Quality is same. Not too costly. And always served with smile. In Bangalore, where food is sometimes overrated and overpriced, this place feels like home cooked love.

After that amazing dinner, we sat in car and came back home. Reached PG and I directly went to bed. Slept like a baby. It was a good sleep after a happy stomach.

I know for someone else it may be just a normal day. But for me it was a peaceful memory. Sometimes food is not just food, it becomes emotion. And this chicken dish from that shop, it's not just a dish, it is a part of my story.

So that’s all for today’s blog. Thanks for reading my little story. Maybe next time I’ll tell about how they make their chicken curry. Until then, take care and keep enjoying good food
