THE JOHAN CRYUFF MELODY

HI still on my journey of football and it's tactics. Let me visit a name I have been mentioning in recent posts

“If you have the ball, it is impossible for the other team to score” – Johan Cruyff

Cruyff's philosophy was deeply ingrained in the idea that football should be played in a beautiful, attacking, and dominating manner.

This quote reflects this philosophy and it therefore requires the player has certain qualities:
1] Great technical skill
2] Intelligence
3] Proactive thinking
4] A teamwork mindest.

So with all these possession of the ball is maintained, rather than resorting to a more defensive or reactive style of play. Cruyff believed that the best defense was a good offense.

For him by maintaining possession, a team accomplishes two things in one– creating opportunities to score and keeping the ball away from their opponents. The latter is a form of defense because indeed if the other team must attack you they must need the ball.

Furthermore, by keeping possession of the ball, a team can now control the game's tempo, direction, and flow.
Also possession the ball saps the strength oit of your opposition as they are forced to chase the ball around. This therefore often opens up spaces and opportunities for a Cryuff styled team to attack.

There is also a psychological aspect of this thing. By dominating possession, a team can also assert a certain psychological influence over their opponents. This can irritate the opposition and they could start making mistakes, become overly aggressive, or lose their tactical discipline.

Possession in it's ordinary nomenclature is not an attacking or defending strategy per se, but a
conduit for controlling the game. Controlling the game opens up options for the team using this method to hurt the opponent
