INTER MILAN THE CHAMELEON
Football la la la la 🎶
It's an interesting game indeed and analysts pundits and fans aliike, continue to comment on that match last night.
What a match last night! Any neutral must have been thoroughly thrilled with it all.
The High Line in the End
My opinion on Barcelona has always being that , to play a high-line as criminal as that , you need certain players with certain skill-sets that Barca doesn't completely have now.
Then yesterday, fatigue set in at the latter stages of the second half, affecting their press mechanism.
Latter Stages
People keep saying that Barcelona should have altered their shape to a lower defensive line after they went ahead as late in the game as the 87th minute.
Now ummhh, hehe Inter is a conundrum worth watching. A lot of people who watched that match yesterday, conclude that Inter's play is all about a few touches in the midfield , then long balls to their attackers.
Oh no, such people don't know Inter very well.
If Barca drops deep, you would discover that Inter are adept at retaining the ball in midfield and play intelligent probing passes too.
I always tell people, check the Serie A, it is Napoli that has the least Goals Against, it is Napoli that are the typical drop-deep-and-counter side, Inter is hybrid and changes like a chameleon, to suit the occasion. They are not necessarily a defensive side nor an attacking side.
Funny init?😁 But it's so true.
Now but if Barca suddenly drops a little deep maybe in the 88th min, yes Inter will now have the opportunity to showcase their second style of play, which is why a few folks feel it might still not be a good decision by Barca.
However, let's look at it closely, normally it will take a team time to adjust to a new system(eventhough they are good at the new system). They are humans not robots!
So if Barca had suddenly dropped deep late on, Inter is not likely to get into their passing groove quickly, especially when players like Mikhitarian and Calhanocoglu who are the chief protagonists of their passing game were out having been truly run ragged by the rampant Barca team.
So in the end, dropping deep seems a safe option for Barca yesterday. The Chameleon would most likely have run out of ideas by this time.
Kudos to Inter Milan, the winner on the night.
Barcelona have learnt useful lessons going forward.
Thanks for reading.
Cheers

Honestly yesterday's match was what CL nights were made of decades ago. The match indeed brought memories. Barca even did reverse Remontada!! Wow!!
