There is no pattern, we just take it as we see it.
Hello, everyone.
I welcome you to my blog. One of the major problems aside from the many other problems we have in my country is the issue of power supply. Though there are people living in areas where it is no longer much of a problem, as they enjoy at least 12 hours of power supply daily, there are also people living in areas where there is no hope for any power supply, and then there are those like us living in areas where we see power supply when we see it, and however we see it, we accept it and move on. We have all gotten used to how our power is being supplied and are tired of complaining, so now we just enjoy it when we see it, and if we don't, we fall back to our generators.
I have lived in all the areas I listed above. One time my dad was serving in Cross River State, and we went visiting only to realize that there was no hope for a power supply, as it had been over 7 months since the cables were stolen and the community decided to do nothing about it, and even the government did not come to their aid. I planned to stay with him for some months, but seeing that there is no power supply at all and all we need a power supply for isto fuel our generator to get it done, I packed my bags and left after a few weeks.
Then I visited my uncle who lives in Umuahia, Abia State. They were rationing their power supply, and every day they were to have 12 hours of power supply, and it was not bad at all. You know exactly when the power will come on and when it will be taken. It felt like they were not in the same Nigeria with us because their power holding company was holding up their own end of the bargain, and even if the line had issues, it was fixed almost immediately, and the rationing continued undisrupted and undisturbed.
Currently I am in my place in school, and down here, despite being a student environment, the story is completely different; sometimes we go 2 weeks without any power supply, sometimes even three weeks. Down here we get power supply when we get it, and our power holding company is very unapologetic about that because we have complained and complained, but the same thing keeps happening, and now we have been forced to adapt and enjoy it when we get any and endure when we don't get any.
The only time you get to enjoy at least 4 to 6 hours of uninterrupted power supply down here is when it is month-end and time for them to bring their bill for the month; they give 4 to 6 hours of uninterrupted power supply for like 2 or 3 days, so when you complain, they can ask if you have not had any power supply for the past 2 days, and sometimes I feel like they are suffering us on purpose.
Power supply is one major problem we always face here in some areas most especially in some local areas.
It looks a stressful life knowing that the light will end every day 🤣
