The laws are there to keep everyone in line.
Hello, everyone.
Welcome to my blog and another wonderful edition of the Hive Learner's featured post. My social studies teacher will say humans are the most difficult animals to deal with; despite being called higher-class animals, they still behave worse than those animals that are considered or said to be below them. Humans are wired in such a way that if there are no rules, they would do crazy things that would probably lead to loss of lives and properties. Picture a lawless city, and you will see the chaos in it. In a lawless city, who wouldn't be a gangster, or who wouldn't do anything humanly possible to enrich themselves, even if it means hurting the other person?
The same teacher gave an illustration with a donkey: if you jab a donkey twice to correct them, do you know they will take corrections? Probably you are taking it to the river to get water; after those two corrections, it would not stress whenever it saw the road; it already knew what to do, but we humans, despite being called higher-class animals, can be jabbed multiple times and still go back to making the same mistakes that caused us to get jabbed. Dealing with humans is even more difficult, which makes putting rules in place in order to maintain law and order very important.
Laws were put to make sure everyone stays in line and it did not in anyway take our freedom away from us, you still have the right to do anything and everything you want and in the way that you want as long as it is legally accepted and backed by the law and does not go against the law, anything outside is out of bound and should be avoided. Also you can still decide to maximise your freedom and do those things that are not backed by law and then pay the price that comes with doing so, we are free but humans like my teacher would say are really worse because the slightest opportunity we get we do the dumbest things anyone will least expect.
I remember during the days of high school, the moment the class representative is asked to compile the names of those making noise everyone and everywhere becomes extremely quiet and everyone gets busy to avoid getting punished but the moment the class representative decides not to do so the whole class becomes a market place again and everyone starts shouting on top of their voices and move rowdy and no one will want to do things in orderly manner since there is no law or a punishment that awaits them for breaking the law, same thing is applicable to humans entirely whether adults or children, once there is no punishment or no law we are definitely doing the wrong things, so this laws have been put in place to ensure orderliness and did not in anyway take your freedom away.
In conclusion, I will say that we are free but with some restrictions, as there are certain things we can even indulge in and enjoy that those behind the four walls of prison can only imagine and will never experience until they are out of there. Freedom with some restrictions is for our own good and not in any way harmful, as if the law did not exist, we would not even enjoy the freedom we claim to have, as we would be scared for our lives.
