The benefits of arming kids with the knowledge and skills they need to scale through life.

I welcome you to my blog. The mistake most parents and adults make is failing to arm kids with all that they need to scale through life at an early stage. They grow up, and all these things become a challenge, and it leaves the kids wishing the adults they had in their life growing up did arm them with what they will need to face life. You meet some kids, and they can handle situations with ease; some kids handle situations even better than some adults. In many cases, this is because growing up, they were fortunate to have been armed with the knowledge and probably the skills they needed to navigate through life.
Kids also have difficult situations to deal with even as kids; many adults make the mistake of thinking they are just kids and they have little or nothing to worry about, but that is one very big lie. Some kids are dealing with a lot, and if they fail to get the help they need, whatever they must have been dealing with comes back to haunt them as adults. The experience many adults had as kids scared them both emotionally and mentally and even psychologically; some adults cannot do certain things all because of what they had to deal with as kids and did not get the help they needed and were not armed with the knowledge needed to deal with such a situation.
For example, the need to teach a child how to communicate effectively is one of the things you can arm a child with in case they are dealing with very difficult situations in school, like probably a bully, or in cases of ill treatment from adults. If they have been taught how to communicate effectively, they will be able to speak up and get help before the situation scars them for life. Many traumatic experiences many adults had as kids are something they still have to battle with and are finding it very difficult to win the battle.
There are many benefits that come with giving kids the knowledge and skills they need as they journey through life, and a few will be discussed in subsequent paragraphs:
They become independent and self-reliant: When kids have the knowledge and skills they need to journey through life, the rate at which they depend on their parents or adults to help them solve problems reduces drastically, as those things an adult can do for them, they can now do themselves.
They find a way to bounce back after a setback: kids who have the knowledge and skills they need to see themselves through their life journey kind of behave like adults; they will always find a way around, they will always bounce back after every setback, and when they become adults, bouncing back from setbacks becomes a minor issue.
Problem-solving ability: As they become independent and self-reliant, they develop a problem-solving skill. They are able to figure out problems in their life and provide solutions to the problem.

You have shared a lot of good information.Of course, children need to be equipped with the knowledge and skills necessary to overcome different stages of life, and I think parents should take the first responsibility for this.
Parents will always have a responsibility and a role to play when it comes sti their kids.
I love my children and am constantly introducing them to different technologies. But as they are constantly learning, I sometimes fear for them. Because everything is so open these days, if they mess up, it's going to get worse. However, I am still trying to teach them the right way, the rest is in the hands of God.
You can only try your best as a parent and hope that the kids follow what they are taught.

One of the best and greatest thing one would do is to equip the kids with the right skills. You have just mentioned the sought after skills that would add more value to them. Being self reliant and ability to solve problem are two vital keys I wouldn't take for granted. If every Nigerian child would have it, then we would have been better than where we are.
