Season of Love: Best Gift Ever Received.
Hello, everyone.
I welcome you to my blog. It's a season of love, and if you are on social media as a single person, it's during this period that you feel like you are being suffocated, and you will wish you also had a partner so as to escape the oppression that comes with this season. You can already see vendors jumping out of nowhere, telling you they have Valentine's Day packages and they can help you deliver them to your partners both home and abroad. They claim it's affordable until you see their price list.

For singles, social media will be suffocating come Wednesday as videos and images of lovers will be flying everywhere. Videos and pictures of lovers and loved ones exchanging gifts will be all over the internet. So many people have Valentine's Day plans already, while many of us have none. No doubt, love is a beautiful thing. It can only be admired by singles like us if both parties involved are compatible and make it look like what it actually is.
Lately, I have not received any gifts on Valentine's Day or during this season, but it was not always like this; there were days where I received gifts even before the deal day and even on the deal day, but things changed, and writing this prompt is making me reminisce about the good old days. I have received quite a number of gifts during this season, and picking from among all the best gifts seems kind of difficult.
During my high school days, we celebrated this season in style. The form master or class prefect of every class writes down the name of all class members and their class for easy tracking on a piece of paper, and it's folded and poured into a very big basket, which is taken around the school, and students are asked to pick from the basket; whichever name you pick, that person is automatically your friend, and if you wish, you can get them a gift or, on that day, exchange pleasantries.
It's a rule that any name you pick remains a secret until deal day. To my greatest surprise, it was a junior student who picked my name, and I received the shock of my life. As a junior student, I did not expect a gift from her; I only expected that we would exchange pleasantries and life would go on, but after we exchanged pleasantries, she brought out a big brown envelope with cellotape at both ends and handed it over to me, I handed her what I bought for whoever picked my name. I was surprised and speechless as I watched her walk away.
I was being pressured by friends to open it, but I refused. I got home and opened the envelope. I found a mug, a handkerchief, a bracelet, and a necklace with the pendant as the first letter of my name. I value these gifts. I still have the mug and bracelet, but the necklace was stolen during my first year in college. It's not the most expensive gift I ever received during this season, but the best gift.

Thanks for reading my post.
Gifts are powerful and leaves indelible memories in us. Abeg that mug you would borrow so that I can use it to take some coffee.
Whenever you need the mug just hola me and i will be at your service.
Noted with thanks.
Oh nice
I love customized gifts
It’s sad the necklace was stolen
I wonder what the person who stole it will use it for unless he or she has your the same initial of your name
Maybe they'd throw away the pendant and make use of the chain or they use it like that anyways.
Thank for stopping by Eve.
You’re welcome Adam

I can relate to this secondary school exchange of gifts. They're not the most expensive thing but they were really cherished and precious. I hope schools still do it cos that might be the only avenue for some people to receive val gift till they eventually get married.
I hope schools still do it too, helps build bond amongst students. Till date I still respect that student.
Yay! 🤗
