Life is all about risk.
Growing up with not so much made me realize how much risk I had to take to get what I want. Sometimes the risk you take plays out as planned, and some leave you in regret with the consolation that you are trying and not every risk will go as planned. We have all been reckless at some point in our lives; some situations require that we throw caution to the wind and just take some risks regardless of the consequences.
I traveled to the village to celebrate Christmas with my family. As always, there would be unforeseen expenses, but I prepared for all of that. But to my greatest surprise, with how much I prepared for it, it turned out the money I set aside for all my expenses, both budgeted and unbudgeted, was not enough, and I had to break the bank and start spending from my savings. A few weeks later the Christmas season was over, and in January I traveled back to the city I live in, and it was at that point I realized how much trouble I was in and the financial mistake I had made.
I had spent almost everything I had saved; my rent was due, and the landlord was already on my neck asking that I pay up or get thrown out. I was confused and did not know what to do. Raising the money for my rent in a week or two with my remote job was impossible; it is something that, no matter how hard I try, will not work.
"Hey bro, I have something troubling me, and I need help or advice. Any of the above you can offer me will be greatly appreciated." I said to Dera, who came to visit me.
"First and foremost, before anything, I just came back from the village too; I don't have any financial help to offer you." Dera said as we both burst into laughter, "As for advice, I have both the good and the bad ones to offer you, so shoot." Dera added
"I just came back from the village, and I realized I had tampered with my rent and had spent too much during my stay in the village; now I am under a lot of pressure from both my landlord and other needs that need attention. What do you think I can do to triple the little money I have left in the account? Once the money is tripled, I can comfortably pay for rent and have some left to clear other bills." I said as I put my hands on my head.
"This is a very complicated situation, and I will not lie to you; all the advice running through my head and mind to give to you will require you to throw caution to the wind." Dera said
"At this point I am open to anything; as long as there is a chance I can get the money I need to get my landlord off my neck, I am willing to take my chances." I responded since I was desperate and needed to ease the pressure I was under both from my landlord and other needs that needed to be attended to.
"Well, how do I even start because I don't want a situation where if things go sideways you start to blame me?" Dera said he was reluctant to share the advice he had in mind.
"Just say it; it is my choice to go with it, and if things go sideways, I won't blame you, I promise." I said to get Dera to get him to share the advice he was holding back.
"Okay, how about since we have a Telegram channel where we get trading signals from, you can risk all the money you have and try to double it by entering trades, or you can risk the money on sports betting and see what comes out of it." Dera said, looking me in the eye to see my reaction.
In my head I had two scenarios playing: one where it goes sideways and I am eventually thrown out for not being able to pay my rent and one where it goes as planned and I pay up my rent and have just enough left to pay for other pressing needs and bills. I gave it a deep thought; there was a 50 percent chance a trade could go sideways and a 50 percent chance it could go well and eventually hit the take profit mark, and it was the same for sports betting, and I had to choose between both risks, which one was more comfortable for me to take.
"If I lose this money, just know that you have a roommate until I am able to sort myself out." I said to Dera with a weak smile on my face
"It will go well, so which one are you going for, or do you want to do both?" Dera asked, "Whichever you decide to do, just throw caution to the wind and go all in." Dera added
"I will do just the sports betting; whatever happens, happens." I said to Dera as I picked up my phone.
I placed a bet using all the money I had left with the belief that the bets placed would go as predicted. I monitored the bets closely down till the last minute, and in the end throwing caution to the wind paid off. I got money for my rent overnight and had just enough money to tend to pressing needs at that moment too, and I was grateful to Dera for his advice and to myself for taking the risk.
