Leadership in the 21st century.

Hello, everyone.

I welcome you to my blog. Those days in school, our social studies teacher would always say that it was easier to control animals than to control humans, and then we thought it was like an insult, but we have grown up to realize that it was nothing but the truth, and many will find it hard to believe until they are in the position to lead. Once you are in the position to lead and you have subordinates or people following your leadership, that is when you come to realize that dealing with humans can be really difficult. Some people in the group will always kick against you and want to go contrary to what you have in mind, and it would have been easier if it was an animal because all you need to do is jab them with a cane, but it is a human being. What can you possibly do to get them in line so fast?

If you are not a good talker or you don't enjoy talking, the position of a leader will make you one because since you are dealing with humans, you have to keep talking and talking until they fall in line, and I believe that is exactly why my social studies teacher will always say it was easier to control animals than humans. The truth is that the way people see leadership before now has really changed; it was seen as something sacred, and whoever was to be given the position or was to be given the power and authority must be worth it, and if they are not, there are people who are willing to go to the ends of the world to remove unworthy people and make sure they are not put in power.

There are so many qualities a leader must possess if they want to lead. As a leader of an organization, firm, state, or country, you must have a vision even before stepping up to lead. There must be things you plan to achieve for the organization and not for yourself.

Leadership is a call to service to the people you are leading and not to yourself. A leader must be selfless too because a selfish leader will want it all for himself and end up leaving the general public or their followers with nothing the moment they become selfish, and leadership in this 21st century is exactly that. In this 21st century, people just want to lead because they want power and not because they have the capability or a vision they want to make a reality for the organization, firm, state, or country.

In those days leadership was completely based on one's capability, but it is no longer so; now it is seen as a means to showcase power, have direct contact with public funds, and do with them as you like. With the current way leadership works, left to me, I'd say let's just leave the world on autopilot mode and see where it takes us, as our leaders are really bad at their jobs. Many people in leading positions are incompetent, but they still found their way there. How? What happened to becoming a leader based on capabilities?

Whatever your social studies teacher in school said to you that line touched my heart easier to control animals than humans truly its real meaning is understood only when one has to handle humans in leadership.

Hmmmm as if I should cry about the way leadership has completely changed in the 21st century. Most essential ingredient that makes up a good leader has been bastardized and watered. No sacrifice, no selfless services again just like you mentioned pride, greed etc.
