Cutting costs during construction can also lead to natural disasters.

Hello, everyone.

I welcome you to my blog. Natural disasters are not something one will wish for or want to experience because after the experience you will never remain the same again; those who have had an experience have been scarred for life unless it was not severe. The examples of natural disasters include flooding, earthquakes, hurricanes, lightning strikes, volcanic eruptions, fire outbreaks, and so many others. One thing to note about natural disasters is that when they occur, they leave nothing untouched within the affected area; they wreak havoc and only bring destruction.

Read a user's entry, and she said she does not even wish for an enemy to be a victim of natural disasters, and I cannot help but agree with her. You can have your life sorted out; you can have everything, but a single natural disaster can take everything and leave you with nothing, which makes natural disasters one of the fastest ways one can go broke after getting their life sorted out.

I have seen news of countries dealing with earthquakes and volcanic eruptions, and lives and properties are threatened by these disasters. Properties are lost, and so are the lives of the owners of the properties. People lose their loved ones in ways that you cannot even imagine; you just know you lost a loved one, but nobody was found. You just conclude they are probably buried under a collapsed building or something, and you are forced to live with it.

The one natural disaster I have witnessed is the one I have always thought was impossible to happen. I have read and was taught in school that lightning can cause fire outbreaks, but I have always had my doubts until I saw for myself. A friend of mine got a new shop where he opened a barbering shop and was using it to sustain himself, but the owner of the building was trying to cut costs and did not add a lightning rod to the building. They complained, but he kept telling them it was nothing and that they were safe.

For those who do not know, lightning rods protect buildings from lightning strikes; they ensure that no harm is done to the building, the people living in it, and the properties in it. The building my friend got a shop in has none, and it was a cause to worry, but the landlord said not to worry; they kept asking him to install one until they were tired and then stopped asking.

One evening there was heavy rainfall, and while it was raining, we were seeing pictures on Facebook that shops in the area my friend's shop was located were burning, and it was as a result of a lightning strike, and they had electrical gadgets plugged in and were on, and that supported the fire, and people, instead of trying to put out the fire or trying to stop it from escalating, ran out of their shops after seeing sparks and stood far and watched their shops burn down.

We got there, and since nobody was making a move and the firefighters did not show up on time as usual, we all stood and watched the fire. I also saw the sparks from electric in the building, and I knew their reason for running out. My friend, who had invested all his life savings in the shop and thought he could get it back over time, lost everything in under 6 months; he went back to scratch thanks to the fire.

To prevent cases like this, we have to stop trying to cut costs and do the right thing in order to keep lives and properties safe.

This is a sad but powerful reminder that safety measures should never be ignored. Cutting costs may save money now, but it can cost everything later.
