An option to consider when there is no other way.
Hello, everyone.
Welcome to my blog and another wonderful edition of the Hive Learner's featured post. Technology and the evolution of mankind have really turned things around. Those days, once a couple discovers they have medical complications that can stop them from having babies of their own, they give up on the dream of ever having kids of their own and either settle for adoption or decide to train their siblings kids, but it is no longer so since surrogacy came into existence.
Surrogacy can be defined as a process where a mother or another woman carries a pregnancy and gives birth to the child for another individual or couple. The woman carrying the pregnancy can be referred to as the surrogate mother.
We all see surrogacy differently, there are people who for id it because of their religion and will never support it, and there are people you can get to accept your reason for doing it when they hear your story and then there are those who don't see it as anything, those who support it wholeheartedly because they see nothing wrong in it after all the baby will still be that of the father in most cases just not that of the mother but will still be loved and treated right by both parents. For some people, as long as you treat the child right, then they don't care how the child came about, so how people see surrogacy varies from one individual to another.
In my neighborhood some years back, we had a couple who were married for over 18 years without having any babies of their own because of the medical complications they kept to themselves and kept claiming it was a spiritual problem and moved from one church to another, all to no avail. They got insulted as expected; many women treated the woman wrongly and always reminded her of her problem, and after a while she traveled only to come back a few months later with twins, claiming that she was pregnant before she traveled.
People did their diggings and findings and found out they settled for surrogacy, and she only traveled to collect the babies, and many people were so bitter about the situation, and some said, "She thinks she now has kids of her own until they grow up and start looking for their mother." Some said, "It is only her husband that now has kids, and she should keep looking for hers." All these bitter statements left me wondering if they are not considerate at all and if they want the woman to fall into depression and if the woman not having a child actually makes them happy. Surrogacy is not as bad as many people nake it sound.
For me, I don't see surrogacy as much of a crime because the aim of every union is to have babies that will carry on their name, but in cases where medical complications come in the way and try to stop that from happening, I feel surrogacy is an alternative to our traditional and normal way of making babies. The only time when I might frown on surrogacy is when couples decide to take that path for personal reasons, like in a movie I watched where the woman chose her career over her family and claimed that getting pregnant would spoil her shape since she was a model and suggested surrogacy for her husband. Surrogacy should only come into the picture when there is no other option.
Surrogacy isn't a crime as it has helped bring joy to some families but still at that I believe it is every woman's dream to birth her children herself.
Exactly my point but some people still frown at it.
