Goodbye, Evernote!

Well, it finally happened. I've been using Evernote for something like ten years, and what at first was a wonderful mostly free note-taking app that I used to recommend to everyone is now going in the trash as far as I'm concerned.

I didn't mind when they wanted you to pay for extra devices and various other little features... but there's no way I'm paying $160 per year just to have more space for notes. Text requires so unbelievably little server space that this is purely a 100% B.S money grab.

I've already kind of been using Hive as a note-taking bridge so I guess all of my tabletop campaign notes, worldbuilding notes, and other stuff like that is going to just become blogs I make here that I update as they need changing because there is absolute no way I'm paying that much for text storage.

This was not the blog post I was intending to write today but I'm so ripped off about yet another feature being locked behind an ever-increasing paywall on this damned app that it's apparently what I'm going to rant about for a moment.

I think it's handy software, don't get me wrong. It doesn't do anything particularly fancy but it does what it needs to alright... and I'd even pay for it if it wasn't asking almost the same as fucking netflix per month. Drop that price to like $5 or $8 and so many more people are going to get annoyed, sigh, and sign up because it's more work to purge the app than it is to pay less than 10 bucks for access. But 17/month or effectively 13/m if you take annual? Nah man, there's no way. I pay like $15 for HumbleBundle per month and I get 8 freaking games for that every month! Y'all want almost the same for text storage?!?! You've gotta be out of your damned mind.

Anyhow, rant over. Don't get Evernote. Don't use Evernote. I certainly am going to burn my footprint off of it.
