Focusing is difficult

path-4610699_640.jpg

It's been difficult lately to pick a lane and focus, financially speaking. I want to do more things than I'm able to fund, which I'm sure is relatable for most folks.

First, and foremost of course, is HIVE itself.

Despite being in the process of a powerdown, I am still striving to stack as much HIVE and HBD as I can. I want to return to 10k+ HIVE as quickly as possible, but I also recognize that right now... doing a powerdown and moving it into BTC is a little easier on me for taxes long-term. Living in Canada, we don't have any good way to get HIVE on and off the chain, so I'm having to use SimpleSwap since no actual exchange that I can use lists us, which is a mess.

I know some folks are working on the base requirements to get more listings, so I think in the future it's going to be a lot easier to move funds into HIVE. I dumped a fair amount of fiat into HIVE back when Binance and Bittrex were offered here, and I'm quite sure I'll do so again once we have a reasonable way to do so again.

Secondly, there's Bitcoin.

As eluded to, I'm trying to snag what btc I can right now while I have the ability. I'm likely never going to be a whole-coiner, but hey - anything is probably better than most folks will have. I've been trying to dump what I can into this but it's been difficult. Inflation here in Canada has not been great, and we're getting new taxes all the time it seems like (thanks government), so a lot of my salary goes to just surviving comfortably.

Which brings me to debt.

It's been a rough few years. Multiple surgeries, several larger repairs, and such has kept my debt higher than I'd like. I'm working hard to pay that off as quickly as possible. It's not much, around $11,000 total, and I'm able to dump quite a bit on it, so I suspect I'll have it paid off by the end of the year if all goes well.

With that said however, we're about to have another kid, and there's no way three carseats are going to fit into a Chevy Cruz. Used vehicles are attrociously expensive up here, so I'm sure some additional debt will be incurred there. It will mean a year of my wife being home however and us not paying daycare costs, which is about $18,000/year... so that's significant.

All together though this does leave me with 3 places I want to put money aggressively, and fewer funds than I'd like to achieve that. Of course, the first order of business is just tackling the higher-interest cc/line of credit debt, as those cost me in interest per month.

It also leaves me trying to think of ways to bring in just a bit more per month. I have a decent salary - just shy of six figures, but it only goes so far and I'm impatient. I don't want to have to take a long time to pay off debt, stack sats, and stack hive. I want to do it all right now. Immediately.

This is of course impossible, and I need to temper my expectations - but it's difficult when there's a lot to be excited about and a lot of stuff I want to do for my own financial future. While I try to keep myself realistic, the best path is to simply keep working on what I can and stacking what I can. I have to trust that everything will work itself out as it should.

Do you think you have the time to take on a second job? You can try out freelancing too, if there are needs for certain skills in your neighborhood.

It is not easy, but if you give it your best it’s not impossible.

I don't know about a second job (I have two kids under six years old, and another on the way), but I have been looking into freelancing gigs. I've also got a book out that generated more income than it cost me, and half of another book ready to go if I can just set aside some extra time to crush it out... which will likely help if I do all of it.

😎👊 yup.. i hear ya..

it's hard, but sounds like u got it figured pretty good..

I'm also stacking heavy (more on HBD) and also luv investing.

The next asset I really want to add to my list is a physical biz like a cafe or gym or like that.. something local and that can put food on the table..

good luck to us..

Yeah I definitely took out a little bit of hive! Although Hive has always been in that positive status as I am now pushing 7 years of accumulation.

Hopefully I can turn it into an acre of land here soon.

Follow with the DraStic fall in price I ended up finding out that I need to wait for the next swing before pulling anymore.

Oh I mean it is always good to catch a positive swing!

Man, turning Hive into an acre of land feels like a fucking success story to me. That would be brilliant if you could do that. So many folks in crypto want dumb shit like lambos, but seeing the fruits of our labour helping us achieve real things with value is infinitely cooler to me.

I hope you get a good swing soon and can manage that acre!

Well...

I got a motorcycle that was helped with hive.

Trips? Me and dog have gotten to roll places.

About to paint my truck which the parts and that was helped and funded by hive...

Thinking of doing a sign on the back referral for hive.

Maybe do a thing where it votes whoever catches it in the wild...

Oh and had people help when Zeus passed.

Oh I got dinner... That was awesome....

Hive has done a lot of good. That's why I'm frustrated at the lack of integration. Oh them hive market trading is sweet... But God forbid you try to post a video clip. But yeah. If I grump maybe things will get fixed. Idk. And thinking of which I'd probably abused the future because I might want to take entire movies of my puppy dog running and playing and generally being a riot on four paws.... Yeah...

I hear ya, the lack of connections to useful exchanges is very hard. I know they're working on it but it's been a long time in the works and it's hard to get broader adoption without easy access to reputable exchanges.

It definitely feels like all the easy inroads we had when we had the surge of attention after telling ol' Sunny boy to fuck himself have disappeared without us capitalizing on them as well as we could/should have. But, I believe there's still time to turn it around and that it'll be super good for us if we do!

That was 3 years ago and we have such amazing organizations like OCD and Mr acid yo running off the community that we actually used to have.

Look around everybody's been run off. I have a massive list of friends that are not on the website anymore.

So yeah it's starting to look pretty bleak for us. Especially since the trending list really points out how badly we are going downhill.

Ocd and acidyo own the blockchain and now are the largest community here. Oh that's right.

I have actually had them go behind my back and threaten anyone regularly voting me to decrease My rewards. They are out there bullying and harassing entire projects and communities so that they have even more power and control over the blockchain.

Honestly enough this isn't decentralized this is completely and totally centralized. It's just centralized in the hands of idiots who can't even grow our website.
