GIRL IN THE BASEMENT (2021)- REVIEW

‎Okay, I know many of us have seen this movie and how its based on a true life story. When I saw the movie, it pained me, and I knew it's not just a life story but a reflection of what happens in our world today, where we hear a lot of bad news about fathers sexually assaulting their daughters. Well, let's talk about this movie, shall we?

‎Girl in the Basement is about a girl named Sara who's looking forward to her 18th birthday and moving away from her controlling father, Don. However, before she can escape, she finds herself held captive by her father, who locks her up in the family basement, where he tortures and sexually assaults her for over twenty years before she is finally released. It was released on February 27, 202l, on Lifetime directed by Elizabeth Röhm.

‎The flim is base on the true story of Elizabeth Fritz, who was held captive by her father Josef Fritz, in their basement for 24 years. I love how they drew inspiration from this and showed how some fathers can be a cowards, betraying their own flesh and blood. They're not fathers, but horrible creatures. This isn't just a movie, it's a lesson for people everywhere.

‎SPOILER ALERT: The film was intense, but it's quite violent. I couldn't bring myself to watch it because it's painful to see a father violate his daughter. You call it "rules" but it's not. You're destroying and bringing trauma to them, making them unable to trust men, but instead see them as beasts.

‎I believe not everyone will sit down and watch this kind of psychologically harsh movie. The characters did a great job showing how emotional this can be. "Girl in the Basement" is a tough movie to watch, but it's something people should see except for those who are emotional or traumatized, as it could be triggering. I can see the outrage on social media about Justice for the little girl who was violated by her father. Some fathers are just disgusting, forgetting you're destroying their daughter's futures. They don't deserve to be in this world, they deserve a life sentence. Watch this only if you can handle it. This is a harsh reminder of the life experiences some girls go through.
