COMPASSION

‎Have you ever felt compassion for someone? Have you ever put yourself in someoney shoes and couldn't bear to see them suffer? Have you ever felt pity and let someone come stay with you because they nowhere to go?

‎ I'm not talking about someone, but it's quite related to it. I was inside when I told my sister "isn't that a cat meowing"? she said it was a bird, but I insisted it was a cat not bird. Since she didn't believe me, I went outside to buy something and found a black kitten meowing in the Middle of the road. I called my sister to come see the kitten. She asked who left the kitten outside, and I told her I saw our neighbor's son dropping it off. He explained that the kitten's mother gave birth in our compound kitten and the compound is always her favorite spot to give birth. He can't leave the kitten there, which is why he dropped it outside. And he also mentioned that three kittens had already died.

‎My question is, when you saw the kitten what made you not to keep it by your side and instead look for someone to take care of the cat?

‎The painful thing was that it was left in the middle of the road, where a bike or car could crush it. The poor kitten had already survived for almost two weeks, all by itself, in the cold without food. It's remarkable it survived that long. Like you didn't have pity and help it instead you threw it away like trash showing no compassion or humanity. its heartbreaking, like a human looking for help and being treated like that.

‎I felt pity and called my sister, suggesting we take the kitten in. We couldn't leave it there all alone, it needed shelter, food and warmth. We took it in and started taking caring for it and guess what? They found another one I told them to bring it over and we took it in too. We nurtured both of them and named them Mila and Asher. They were so cute that I kept checking up on them constantly.

‎Funny enough, I'm not a cat person, but seeing how they treated the kitten brought out some emotional feelings that I couldn't resist. I found myself touching, carrying it and smiling so much while looking at them. My sister posted a picture of them on her status and someone reached out, asking if they could adopt one. The guy wanted the black one, so we gave it to him. Now, Asher will stay with us. She's welcome to the family.

‎I was thinking of what to write today and when the word COMPASSION came to my mind means recognizing the suffering of others, deeply caring and taking action to help. That's exactly how I felt when I saw the kittens. I couldn't bear to see them suffer or get hurt, so I took action by taking them in and nurturing them, welcoming them into my family. We should cultivate compassion within ourselves because how we treat animal reflects our character and willingness to treat humans with kindness. Archbishop Desmond tutu advised "True compassion means not only feeling another's pain but also being moved to help relieve it."

‎We should learn to help others in need. Visit orphanages and donate what you can. Ask those around you someone if they've eaten today, as many people are struggling. The little you give won't drain your resources but rather fill it up. We should cultivate compassion within ourselves.

‎"Love and compassion are necessities, not luxurious. Without them, humanity cannot survive." -Dalai Lama
