The Most Annoying Incident Of Last Week

So, this last week had little to no activity. The most activity I had was when I went to work, aside that, no Biggie. I've just been seating around, bored as hell and I feel lazy to do any other thing aside rest and chill.

I've been having transient insomnia lately because I always work night shifts every two weeks. It's difficult to fall asleep even when I'm tired. I think I'll have to pay a visit to my doctor. Yeah I know, it's kinda weird. A nurse visiting a doctor. Yeah well, I'm human too ya'know and I'm not all knowledgeable and perfect.

I had two patients that really got on my nerves last week. The first patient had BPH while the other one was a case of an assault. He said 15 people beat him up for doing nothing. He said that the incident happened in a different state in two separate days, on a Sunday and on a Monday.

The patient and his two relative's story kept changing anytime they were asked and I began to suspect that he went out to steal and he was beaten by people. Jungle justice is a common thing over here.

Welp, after rendering my initial care, the patient refused further medical care. His reasons was that his tired of taking medications. I educated him, encouraged him and even tell him the effects of not getting proper medical care. I also added the benefits of not getting proper medical care but still, he refused to continue. I gave him an AMA form to fill which he wrote on and signed.

The next patient has BPH. He's been suffering from this condition for almost 4 yrs now (according to him). He rushed to the ER, restless and in severe pains related to urine retention. 2 different attempts to pass urethral catheter failed as there was complete occlusion of the urethra by the prostate. The third attempt went through, and patient was relieved.

After the relief, the patient also said he wanted to leave the ER. I'm like, does this man actually know what's wrong with him? He was having pitting oedema, a sign that his kidneys are becoming affected but still, he dont give a care in the world about his health.

I educated, encouraged, explained in little details about patients condition and need for expert care, but he refused everything, even the medications that was prescribed. I was low-key pissed off, but then, it's not my body. I did my role as a health giver and the rest is for the man to do. He refused to sign AMA, and the Doctor on call allowed him to go with a spigotted catheter.

Last week was crazy, but then, I survived..... hopefully, the next time I go back to the hospital, I'll meet patients who are actually ready to live, not the ones that don't care about their health and well being.

That's all from me. Thank you for reading.
