The Course That Gave Me Mental Block
People who aim to become great in life share one simple trait, steady learning. No matter how well they know or understand something, they always look for a way to constantly upgrade their knowledge pool. Its quite interesting.
Some people are fast learners, while some are very slow when it comes to learning. Also, we have those who are neither fast nor slow learners. Again, we have those that have constant mental block. For some, their learning speed is greatly dependent on what they are trying to learn. Nonetheless, the most important thing is that we learnt what we want to learn.
I am neither a fast learner nor a slow learner, however, the speed of what i learn is largely based on what i'm trying to learn. I have had times when i understand something by just looking at it. Even after a long time, i will not forget what i learnt. Also, i have had times when no matter how much i study something, i will not understand it even if they tear my head open and put the materials.
I would not say that i was a bright student in school. Actually, i was among the average ones who pass a course with average grades. I understood everything i was taught, but one thing I failed to understand in school is a course called Research and Statistics.
Research and Statistics is one of my favorite courses. I love the course because i am a huge fan of research. I want to interact with people to find out things from them. However, when it comes to the course itself, i always fail to understand it. I may understand it this minute, but the next minute, i've forgotten everything i know about the course. Its really crazy because this is what i love doing, but any time i try to study how to do it, I always end up getting a mental block.
I tried many things possible but it didnt work, so, what i did was to cram the course so that i can pass the exams. After the exams,, i will forget everything. In school, students call this technique "La cram, La pour, La pass, La forget." Its not an actual language but it is something we made up in school.
Another thing that was very difficult for me to learn was trading Forex. Oh my, this was both emotional and mental torture.
I remember when i was reading through baby pips for days nonstop. I hardly eat anything because i really want to understand how to predict the market.
I remember the good old days of Parabolic SAR, Bollingers bands, and the rest. lol. During those days, When i learn an indicator, I would apply it to my chart. Sometimes, it works, and sometimes it don't. I remember when FOMO made me take bad trades. I lost to the extent that i almost cried. I was lying down, hugging my pillow tight, hitting my hand on the flow while saying to myself, Guy you messed up big time. Just leave this stuff and rest.
Welp, as stubborn as i was, after each time i blew my account, I will still fund my account again and look for another set up. I was a very rough ride, and its still a rough ride, but then, we are learning as the time goes.
I'm not yet a pro trader, but at least, I am better than i was. Profits are coming my way gradually, and i hope to maintain the mentality and discipline i have.
Thank you for reading.
This is my entry for Hive learners prompt
Wow, what an honest and inspiring story! I really related to the part about having mental blocks even in something you love. I think the most important thing is to keep trying and learning at our own pace, just like you said. Congratulations on your progress - that’s what really matters in the end!
Thats the best thing. Slow and steady wins the race
I love statistics, probably because it’s all numbers just know the formula and you are covered 😃.
Ps
I’m coming for some Crypto lessons.
This is the first time i heard someone say they love statistics.
