I never wanted to be a nurse. When I was searching for a profession in my secondary school, health disease and wellness was far from my sight because I was not all that into it. During the time I was trying to make the decision on which course to study in the higher institution, I checked the wages of diverse professions and I saw that they had a modest pay. However, when n saw the wages of an average nurse outside the country, I was actually tempted to do nursing because of the money, but then, I didnt like nursing and I didn't think I'll ever like nursing.
I made up my mind to follow my zeal. I wanted to do what I love doing best, which is being a mechanical engineer who specialized on cars. Oh I love car with everything in me. My notice for wanting to study mechanical engineering didn't just come from the modest wages they receive locally, but it came from the passion and zeal I have for cars and airplanes. I used to dream of owning my own car brand.

I never imagined myself at this stage in life, suturing wounds, delivering babies, and caring for patients at their bed side. I didn't imagine that I would be assisting life to come into this world without complications, and also, assisting life going out of the world without feeling too many regrets or something.
Today, nurses sing - "we are called to serve humanity." But I say, "I am opportune to serve humanity." Yes, nursing is a noble profession and I never imagined myself saying this, but I'm proud to be a nurse. I'm glad I chose this path.
I'm glad that I took the part of nursing. Though as I entered into nursing, I saw quite a lot of other fields that got my interest. One of them is psychiatry. I don't like psychiatry because of the mentally ill patient, but I like psychiatry because it exposes me to psychology. I'm a huge lover of psychology. No matter the branch of psychology, so long as the topic is about human behaviour, I'm interested.
I've seen many ups and downs during my career. Though I'm not yet in the peak of my career, I have witnessed a lot of things. I know I would still experience a lot more in the future.
As a nurse, the best time for me is seeing my patient get back to full health. True, some times, patients and patient relative can be very very annoying and they can tempt a nurse through vocal and, at times, physical abuse, to do something that the nurse will regret. Thankfully, my self control is really good, so, I don't irrespective of patient or patient relative behaviour, I always have a small on my face and do whatever I need to do.
Every time I see a patient being discharged, I feel a sense of joy in my heart. I'm always very happy because I know that I assisted in the recovery of that patient. One thing I always do is to give my patient health talk even after they are discharged.
