Tenía tiempo que no pasaba por la calle principal de Avellaneda en el sector donde vivo. Para mi sorpresa, paso ayer y me encuentro con un lindo parque recién inaugurado. Si pude ver la última vez cuando caminaba por allí hace meses, vi que hacían una nueva obra, pero no imaginaba que era un nuevo parquecito.

It's been a while since I've been down the main street of Avellaneda, in the area where I live. To my surprise, I walked past yesterday and came across a lovely, newly opened park. I was able to see it the last time I was walking there months ago, when they were doing some new construction, but I had no idea it was a new little park.

Lo interesante, ha sido que ahora este parque, va a formar parte de del Polideportivo Delfo Cabrera, allí, se practican muchas disciplinas deportivas, como natación, futbol, tenis, etc. Yo estuve practicando en ese lugar por un buen tiempo el acuagim. Un lindo deporte en piscina que me mantuvo emocionada y activa, hasta que llegaron las vacaciones, donde se les deja a los niños las instalaciones por sus vacaciones.

The interesting thing is that this park will now be part of the Delfo Cabrera Sports Center. Many sports are practiced there, such as swimming, soccer, tennis, etc. I used to practice aquagym there for a long time. A lovely pool sport that kept me excited and active until the holidays arrived, when the children are allowed to use the facilities for their vacation.

Me llama la atención que las puertas principales del parque están en dirección a la calle, no dentro de las instalaciones del polideportivo. Lo que quiere decir, que será para uso libre, de todos los niños de este sector también.

It strikes me that the park's main gates face the street, not inside the sports center facilities. This means it will be open to all children in this area as well.

Colocaron unos dinosaurios para mecerse, hechos con un material que parece muy resistente. Además, los padres se pueden sentar, mientras sus niños se divierten, en unos bancos grandes y cómodos que se encuentran en las esquinas.

They've set up some rocking dinosaurs, made of a material that seems very durable. Parents can also sit on the large, comfortable benches in the corners while their children have fun.

En la imagen anterior, se observa la punta de una torre hasta donde llegan los niños cuando quieren subir a los toboganes, en esa torre hay dos toboganes, para subir deben escalar una maya, tejida con fuerte mecate.

In the image above, you can see the top of a tower where children reach when they want to climb the slides. There are two slides in that tower. To climb, they must climb a mesh net woven with strong rope.

En el parque han tomado en cuenta que para que sea un parque y los niños puedan divertirse de varias maneras, les han colocado varios juegos interactivos. Es un detalle muy importante. Hay un juego gigante para descubrir parejas de animales, ellos lo llaman crucijuegos. Son juegos didácticos para que el niño mientras juega aprenda, ese sería un aprendizaje significativo, además de socializar con otros niños.

At the park, they've taken into account that, to make it a park where children can have fun in a variety of ways, they've set up several interactive games. This is a very important detail. There's a giant game to find pairs of animals; they call it crossword puzzles. These are educational games so children can learn while they play. This would be a significant learning experience, in addition to socializing with other children.

Un dato curioso es que había un solo mecedor o columpio, pero tenía dos sillitas, nada más. Ambas en el mismo espacio, una delante y otra atrás. Imagino que para un niño grande y uno pequeño. Lo que no entendí fue la orientación de ambas sillitas. Pero cuando pase y la estén usando lo sabré.

A curious fact is that there was only one rocker or swing, but it had two seats, nothing more. Both in the same space, one in front and one in back. I imagine for a big child and a little one. What I didn't understand was the orientation of both seats. But when I pass by and they're using it, I'll know.

En la imagen posterior, se ve la maya construida para que los niños ejerciten sus piernas y manos, al tener que subir por ese lado para entrar a la torre y bajar por el tobogán pequeño. Es muy interesante.

In the following image, you can see the mesh constructed so that children can exercise their legs and hands, as they have to climb up that side to enter the tower and go down the small slide. It's very interesting.

También hay un juego para aprender la hora, con un reloj gigante, para que sus manitas practiquen con los números, diversas ocurrencias y no solo la hora, por supuesto. Este juego da para muchas otras estrategias educativas y para ejercitar su motricidad fina.

There's also a time-teaching game, featuring a giant clock, so little hands can practice numbers and various activities, not just telling the time, of course. This game offers many other learning strategies and fine motor skills.

Esta es la entrada a la torre, pero deben ingresar trepando y usando manos y pies. No está fácil, pero les obliga a ejercitarse para lograr su objetivo.

This is the entrance to the tower, but they must climb using their hands and feet. It's not easy, but it forces them to exercise to achieve their goal.

Acá se aprecian ambos toboganes y cómo están ubicados en la torre. Realmente ha sido una experiencia muy linda y un parque que, aunque es pequeño, estuvo bien organizado. Me parece que si inauguran varios parquecitos como este, sería un gran aporte para que los niños tengan alternativas de expansión, diversión y lo mejor, educación.

Here you can see both slides and their location in the tower. It was truly a wonderful experience, and the park, although small, was well-organized. I think if they open several small parks like this, it would be a great way for children in various neighborhoods to have opportunities for recreation, fun, and, best of all, education.

Algo que me llamó la atención fue que el piso no es de césped, sino con alfombras sintéticas. Cuando pasé acababa de llover, y estaba muy mojado; sin embargo, no era peligroso ni había pozos.

Something that caught my attention was that the ground wasn't grass, but rather synthetic carpets. It had just rained when I passed by, and it was very wet; however, it wasn't dangerous, and there weren't any potholes.

Se nota que es un modelo de parque bien pensado. Recuerdo que en mi país, hubo un presidente que inauguraba los parques llamados Parques de Bolsillo, sobre todo en los sectores de menos recursos, y que justamente cumplían un rol educativo y para entrenamiento y diversión. Los niños tenían acceso a juegos de memoria, trepar con mecates gruesos, columpios, sube y baja, y hasta toboganes. Época que añoro...

It's clear that this is a well-thought-out park model. I remember a president in my country who inaugurated parks called Pocket Parks, especially in low-income neighborhoods, which served an educational, recreational, and training purpose. Children had access to memory games, climbing frames, swings, seesaws, and even slides. A time I long for...
