La semana pasada, estuve, como siempre, de paseo por un parque que está cerca de mi residencia en Avellaneda. Y noté que estaban varios vendedores de hamburguesas y otro tipo de comida ligera, o de esa que es solo para consumir rápido, bien sea porque vas de apuros, o porque es tu hora de descanso y es lo que puedes comer en ese poco tiempo que te dan en el trabajo para almorzar.
Un puesto entre todos que allí había, me llamó la atención, ya les pasó a contar…

And I noticed that there were several vendors selling hamburgers and other types of light food, or the kind that is just for quick consumption, either because you are in a hurry, or because it is your break time and it is what you can eat in that little time you get at work for lunch. One stand among all that were there, caught my attention, and I will tell you about it...

Este puesto tiene un nombre muy peculiar; Santo Remedio Realmente comer algo ligero y con mucho apetito se convierte en un remedio inmediato. Es como cuando necesitas resolver algo urgentemente y encuentras la solución, sin mucho esfuerzo.
Siempre me ha llamado la atención la originalidad de los empresarios para conseguir que sus productos sean demandados. Sobre todo, y muy importante, la elección del nombre de su negocio, para conseguir el éxito que se requiere, y esto ha sido genial.

I have always been struck by the originality of entrepreneurs to get their products in demand. Above all, and very important, the choice of the name of your business, to achieve the success that is required, and this has been great.

El siguiente motivo por el cual me fijé en este puesto ha sido, la gran variedad de salsas que ofrece en su puesto de ventas de hot dog o perros calientes como lo llamamos a lo venezolano
Este vendedor me hizo recordar, que puestos como este, abundan en mi país, y no solo por la cantidad, sino porque te ofrecen, al igual que este, salsas de varios sabores y marcas, quesos, picantes, cremas, vinagretas caseras, como se pueden apreciar en las imágenes. Unas con pepino, otras con cebollas, etc.

![ingles]The next reason why I noticed this stand was the great variety of sauces offered in their hot dog stand, or hot dogs as we call them in Venezuelan style.
This vendor reminded me that stalls like this one abound in my country, and not only because of the quantity, but also because they offer you, just like this one, sauces of various flavors and brands, cheeses, spicy, creams, homemade vinaigrettes, as you can see in the pictures. Some with cucumber, others with onions, etc.

Recuerdo que solíamos visitar la emblemática plaza Francia, ubicada en la urbanización Altamira, en Caracas. Acostumbraba ir con mis hermanos a comer perros calientes en el puesto de Filippo Saglimbeni, quien fue un emigrante italiano, que logró levantar a su familia y conquistar el corazón y el estómago de todos lo que iban, gracias a la degustación de sus famosos perros en las tardes de solaz y en familia.

![ingles]I remember that we used to visit the emblematic Plaza Francia, located in the Altamira neighborhood in Caracas. I used to go with my brothers to eat hot dogs at the stand of Filippo Saglimbeni, who was an Italian emigrant, who managed to raise his family and conquer the hearts and stomachs of all who went, thanks to the tasting of his famous dogs in the afternoons of solace and family.

Allá tenemos muchos lugares como les indiqué anteriormente y la gente se acostumbró a llamarlos "Calle del hambre." Esos espacios están en todo el país, pues el perrito caliente, se convirtió en nuestra tradición, a partir de la llegada de Fillipo con su emprendimiento tan genial. En ellos se vende solo comida "chatarra, o ligera". Por ejemplo, en la Plaza Venezuela, se instalan varios perreros, con sus ofertas y originalidades debido a lo que se le agrega a los perros. Pienso que allí es donde está el secreto de un buen hot dog, su contenido, parte de una buena salchicha.

Those spaces are all over the country, because the hot dog, became our tradition, since the arrival of Fillipo with his so great enterprise. They sell only “junk” or “light” food. For example, in the Plaza Venezuela, there are several “perreros”, with their offers and originalities due to what is added to the dogs. I think that is where the secret of a good hot dog is, its content, part of a good sausage.

Volviendo al puesto en cuestión del “Santo Remedio”, destaco también los panes que ofrece el servicio. Muy grandes y se prestan para jugar con ese abanico de sabores agregados. Para culminar, vale resaltar, la gran variedad de combinaciones y sabores que en el menú ofrece a los comensales de a pie. Desde salchichas alemanas, como argentinas, vienesas, con cordero, gourmet, veganas, etc. , salsas y aderezos como curri, barbecue, agridulce, pepinos en conserva, chile habanero, salsa criolla, chimichurri, queso, cheddar, parmesano, roquefort, etc.

![ingles]Returning to the “Santo Remedio” stand in question, I would also like to highlight the breads offered by the service. They are very large and lend themselves to play with that range of added flavors. Finally, it is worth mentioning the great variety of combinations and flavors that the menu offers to ordinary diners. From German sausages, as well as Argentinean, Viennese, lamb, gourmet, vegan, etc., sauces and dressings. sauces and dressings such as curry, barbecue sauce, sweet and sour, canned cucumbers, habanero chili, creole sauce, chimichurri, cheddar cheese, parmesan cheese, roquefort, etc...

Espero que para un próximo evento, regrese este emprendimiento, porque me quedé con las ganas de prepararme un delicioso perro caliente acompañado de las tres salsas obligadas, como la mostaza, mayonesa y ketchup, y después de lo básico, comienza la locura de combinación como el agregarle alguna de esas vinagretas que ofrecen, maíz, agridulce, queso de año, etc.

![ingles]I hope that for a next event, this venture will return, because I was left with the desire to prepare a delicious hot dog accompanied by the three obligatory sauces, such as mustard, mayonnaise and ketchup, and after the basics, the madness of combination begins, such as adding some of those vinaigrettes that they offer, corn, sweet and sour, cheese, etc.

En Venezuela, a nuestro perrito caliente, no le puede faltar la cebolla blanca picada en trozos muy pequeños y el repollo bien rallado, esto acá no lo acostumbran, porque de hecho, lo que es típico son los panchos. Lamento no haber llevado ese día, dinero para comprar, pues solo estaba en mi plan, caminar un rato.

Si por casualidad encuentran el puesto “Santo Remedio”, en algún punto de feria, en Buenos Aires o las afueras, les recomiendo que al menos prueben alguno y preparen a gusto los aderezos. Creo que este ha sido el primero que he visto tan completo y con tantas combinaciones en su carta.

![ingles]If you happen to find the “Santo Remedio” stand at a fairground, in Buenos Aires or the outskirts, I recommend that you at least try some of them and prepare the toppings to your liking. I think this was the first one I have seen so complete and with so many combinations in their menu.
