You can make your own happiness.

Happiness is something that people often strive to achieve, yet its meaning can differ from one person to another. Generally, it is an emotional state marked by feelings of joy, satisfaction, contentment, and fulfillment. Although happiness can be defined in many ways, it is often described as involving positive emotions and an overall sense of life satisfaction.
Some people need validation from others to feel happy, but the truth is that no one owes you happiness. While the actions or inactions of people can influence our emotions, and though we do need others in life, the reality is that we can always create our own happiness in any situation. Some spend their time searching for happiness in a relationship, only to end up hurt, while others think that wealth or power can bring joy, but that is not true. Even the rich experience sadness. I have seen people who are very wealthy but are not happy. The truth is that happiness can come from small things we do, as long as they give us peace of mind.
I strongly believe that we can create our own happiness. I remember after finishing my NYSC camp, when I received my posting, it was to an area that people generally disliked, a place that could make anyone cry upon seeing the posting letter. I was not happy at first, but when I realized I had no choice but to go, I had to adjust my mindset and accept the place. Once there, I made deliberate efforts to make it enjoyable and fulfilling for myself. I am grateful for my church, which was there, and for the friends I made, who were supportive.
Eventually, I began enjoying the place, and all of this happened because I focused on creating my own happiness, rather than waiting for someone else to provide it. Even those posted to urban areas eventually complained about the cost of living and other challenges, perhaps expecting happiness to be found only in the city, but the opposite was true. Therefore, in everything you do, try to learn how to create your own happiness.
