Policy Review

‎January 2026, the federal government came up with a nice policy which has been long overdue and some state has already been practicing it.
‎Punch news paper of 9th January 2026 captured it as " FG eyes six-year lifespan for textbooks in new quality policy" .

‎This policy talks about the frequent change of textbooks as we keep observing in our schools especially the private schools. This particular act has been burdensome to parents due to the fact that they keep spending money to buy textbooks annually. And it's financially draining.

‎But this policy has come to reduce the cost of education for parents.
‎As stated by the punch news paper ;
‎> " The Federal Government of Nigeria has unveiled a comprehensive policy framework aimed at reducing the cost of education for parents, improving learning outcomes, and promoting sustainability in schools through the adoption of reusable, high-quality textbooks and the strengthening of quality assurance mechanisms." Sources

‎Truly, this particular policy is helpful, but the question now is, will schools welcome it and embrace it ? Since the policy was announced, how many schools has made a move or made plans to implement. Because a policy made and not implemented is as good as not making that policy at all.

‎>Will this policy be well implemented or will it only exist in pages of papers just as other policies that the Federal government has been making ? What are the plans and measures that is set aside to ensure that this particular policy is successfully and effectively implemented.
‎So many questions to answers.

‎Join us as we discuss Factors that may hinder the successful implementation of the Federal Government’s policy on reusable textbooks.

‎Host : Nsisong Sampson ( MNAEAP, TR. )
‎Guest : Mr. Ifiok Umoren

‎Thanks for watching.
