In today's world where crime and other life threatening issues is rampant, protecting ourselves and getting all necessary self defense skills is very important. Defending ourselves here does not mean we should fight back, but adopting all necessary measures to ensure we stay out of and protect ourselves from any danger. ‎Also, learning some basic self defense skills will go a long way to help. Skills like karate , taekwondo and others might help at some point. Again what we take in is very important, which is why we need to mind where we eat from and who we eat with. It's not everyone that's smiling with you that is your friend.

‎Staying connected is another way of self defense, try to let few trusted people know your way about and also do well to have data or call card in your phone especially at night. Limit that rate at which you travel at night and if a place is not that important or necessary don't go.
‎Alway try to defend yourself and not to prove strength, because the goal of self defense is to defend yourself and stay safe and not to show how powerful you are, if a situation demands running please run.
