ON MY 20TH BIRTHDAY

The community keeps coming up with funny topics, and this week's topic is no exception.

On my 20th birthday, I found out that my dad is the son of a doting criminal warlord, and my mom is the doting daughter of a secret agent. Both families are now looking up to me to take over as the heir.

Well, funny enough, these two jobs are jobs that bring in a lot of cash. Though one is legal and the other illegal, the truth remains that we are all in need of money. Also, considering the fact that this is a family business, it means that if I accept to start either of the two, I will have experienced hands to train me, and I will become very good at the job. However, before I accept any of the two roles, I must first consider a few things.

One, why did my dad run away from taking over his father’s business if it was that good? Why didn’t he stay, learn, and take over the business from his father irrespective of the money involved? In that case, me taking over the business is a no-no. We all know that criminality is an illegal and risky path, so why would I take over a business where I will see money but won’t be able to step out peacefully to enjoy it? Why would I take over a business where I cannot sleep with both eyes closed? Why would I accept a business that makes security agents chase me day and night? Why would I run a business that causes others to shed tears? At this point, I think I will follow my father's footsteps and run away, 🤣🤣🤣 ahahaha.

On the other hand, being a secret agent is a legal job to consider, but it is risky as well. Accepting this would also mean living a very observant and secretive lifestyle. Although I might consider it, before I accept it, if and only if I do, I would try to follow my own dreams first, work on myself, and go into another line of business. If my own business succeeds, I will continue with it and leave their family issues for them to solve or find another heir.

Money is sweet, but peace of mind is also paramount. Doing a job that brings money but cannot be enjoyed in peace is something to seriously consider, because the risk involved might not be what kills you, but the lack of peace of mind.
