My Little Support to My Environment

Let me start by saying a very big congratulations to Hive Naija on its second anniversary. It has been a wonderful community since I joined Hive, and I appreciate all the admins who have been keeping the fire burning.

Dear friends, we live in a sick world that needs our collective effort to make it a better place for all of us. But at times, we push the blame to the government and other people instead of identifying the role we can play to assist our environment and the world at large. If you take a closer look, you will agree with me that our immediate environment lacks basic health care facilities, good road networks, stable electricity, clean sources of drinking water, and even quality educational systems that make education accessible, affordable, and enjoyable for all. These and many more are the issues affecting our environment.

Meanwhile, as citizens, there are roles we can play to also assist our environment once we identify the need. Personally, due to my area of specialization, which is education, I have identified a lot of loopholes in the sector, ranging from poor facilities especially in rural areas, to children having access to education but without basic writing and learning materials. A child who is in school without writing materials to participate actively in class automatically becomes a problem or a source of distraction to other learners or students.

After observing all these, I came up with the idea of organizing a foundation called N-Samp Foundation, which focuses on assisting learners in rural areas. For the past five years, we have been doing our best to distribute writing materials to learners in rural areas, donate instructional materials and other resources to schools, and educate them on the importance of education. The N-Samp Foundation is a group of like-minded individuals who understand what it means to carry out charitable services and who love education. This passion for education has inspired us to contribute our little quota annually to assist school children.

Although we do not have strong sponsors and partners, we believe that with time, God will connect us with people who will support us financially and otherwise so that we can touch more lives and schools. For now, we believe that our little efforts will go a long way in assisting others, and with time, we will be able to improve our educational system and by extension, help our environment and the world at large. This, among others, has been my little contribution to my environment, which I believe will yield positive results in no time.

In your own little way, you can also do your best to support your environment. It might not be in the education system alone. Just look for where there is a gap in your society and where your passion lies, then offer your support.
