ME , VALENTINE AND THE REST OF US.

Valentine’s Day, which is celebrated once every year, specifically on the 14th of February, is a day of love. It is a time when people sit out, go places with their loved ones, and express affection in different ways.

According to RosesOnly.com:
"St. Valentine's Day is an annual festival to celebrate romantic love, friendship, and admiration. Every year, on 14th February, people celebrate this day by sending messages of love and affection to partners, family, and friends. Couples send Valentine's Day cards and flowers and spend special time together to honour their love for each other." Link

Many people see Valentine’s Day as a special occasion. Some plan surprises, go on romantic dates, and exchange gifts to express love and appreciation. It is also a time when friends and family members show care for one another.

How I Usually Spend Valentine’s Day

Personally, I usually don't have any special plans for Valentine’s Day. At times, I stay at home and sleep. If it falls on a weekday, I ensure that after work, I relax at home.

Just like last year’s Valentine’s Day, I stayed late at work and then came back home in the evening with more tasks that kept me busy till around 11:30 p.m., when I slept off. It’s always one of the boring days for me, but I try as much as possible to make it fun in my own way. Over the years, I have adopted a strategy to make it worthwhile.

What I Do on Valentine’s Day That Keeps Me Happy

Since Valentine’s Day is a day to show love and affection to others, I make it a point of duty to pay the transport fare of any elderly person I share a taxi or tricycle with that day. Showing love to them and seeing them happy, in turn, gives me joy.

Some elderly people struggle to pay their transport fares, and even though they may not ask for help, I know that little acts of kindness can go a long way. The happiness on their faces when I offer to pay is always priceless. For me, this is what Valentine’s Day is about, making others happy in the simplest way possible.

My Plans for This Year’s Valentine’s Day

As usual, I have no special plans for this year’s Valentine’s Day other than upholding what I have been doing. Since it falls on a Friday, I might consider doing a normal sit-out on my own, though that is still uncertain. I will also use that day to prepare for my friend’s wedding, which is taking place the following day.

Valentine’s Day, to me, is just as normal as any other day. I don’t see the need to do anything extraordinary. However, I understand that for some people, it is a very special day, and that’s okay.

For those who make it a special day, it’s cool! Go out there with the love of your life, have fun, celebrate, and stay safe. No matter how you choose to spend the day, what matters most is spreading love and happiness in any way you can.
