MAMA'S SICKNESS : MY WAKE-UP CALL

In life, we face different things and pass through situations that either shape our lives or make us feel reluctant to do anything about life. At times, some happenings make us stronger or harden our hearts. Everyone has a decision-making point in their life.

This is always a point that changes your perspective about many things and also gives you clarity. It is a point that makes you take some drastic decisions and work towards achieving them.

The point I said to myself, "Nsi, you must make it in life," was when my mum was very ill. The sickness started and became so serious. We visited the hospital and bought native drugs, yet there was no sign of improvement. At a point, there was no money left. We were only hoping on God to perform a miracle, which He did and will always do. She kept taking the available drugs until one day she was so down, and we had to transfer her to a hospital in another state that someone recommended. I was to go with her to the park.

Behold, it was raining that morning when we were about to leave. The rain delayed us, and when it later subsided, we picked a bike and decided to use it to get to the park since there was no other means and I did not have a car. On our way, the rain started again, and all I could do was use the little umbrella I had with me to shield her from the rain. I asked the motorcyclist not to speed, but even at that, the rain still soaked us partially. I thought to myself, "Had it been I had a car, would this rain soak us like this?" At that point, I said to myself, "I must make it in life," and since then, I have been working hard and trying my best to make sure I make it and make Mama proud.

The joy is that, after all that, the Lord showed her mercy and healed her.

That incident alone gave me a new perception of life, and I pray that one day the good Lord will help me achieve all my heart desires.
