I CAN'T STOP HALF WAY ; MY MOTIVATIONAL STATEMENT

In life, we all have moments when it feels like our efforts are not yielding results, moments when it seems as though the world has come to an end. Yet, in the midst of it all, we often find ourselves being motivated, either by something or by someone.

This is also true for schooling. In school, there are times when the stress becomes overwhelming, money runs out, and you know that even if you call home, no help will come. At such times, you simply have to motivate yourself or find someone or something to inspire you.

For me, one thing that has always motivated me never to give up is the belief that I cannot stop halfway, I must finish everything I start. That statement has been a part of me, and I have always used it as a source of motivation when it seems like all hope is gone in school.

I remember one day in my 300 level when my dad visited my house in school. I had already noticed for the past month that whenever I called home to request money for books or upkeep, there was always a slight delay. That day, my father had gone somewhere and decided to stop by my apartment before heading home.

When he arrived, he did not spend up to fifteen minutes, and as he was about to leave, he called me back into my room and said, “Nsi, any money you see now or any money we give you, just make sure you manage it well, because I am now retired, and I cannot tell when I will finish processing everything. So funds might not be coming as expected.” I told him I understood.

When he left, I thought about his statement again. It was after about a month that I began to feel the impact of those words. Things became a bit tough in my 400 level, but I always tried as much as I could to manage, telling myself, “Nsisong, you cannot stop halfway, the effort of your parents so far cannot be wasted.” So I kept pushing and carefully managing whatever funds came from home. To the glory of God, I graduated, and eventually, everything returned to normal.

Even now, that statement, “I cannot stop halfway,” continues to keep me going.

There is a saying that always stick to our brains and it is that we have come too far to stop halfway. What surely has a beginning must have an end. Glad you pushed through and made your family proud. Thanks for sharing your story with us.

School is never easy but then it is just about having that belief of reaching the final destination no matter how tough things get.

It is not always rosy in school, at some point, the rose become thorns but like you said, why start something and leave it half way? Even if it means to crawl, it's better to reach the end that way than to quit along the line because of trials and difficulties

Yes ooo, even if it's to crawl, it's always important to finish what we started
