I got a WhatsApp message that fateful evening, "Did you know that your friend has been arrested, charged and detained?" I was shocked. What did he do, I asked, but the informant couldn’t give any reasonable response.
Immediately, I reached out to a few friends and some elderly people. Some explained that he had opposed the king. What did the king do, I asked. They said he simply demanded accountability in the village, but the king took it as an insult and a form of oppression. So, he was arrested because he stood his ground and asked for accountability regarding the funds that came into the village.
We tried everything possible to ensure his release, but there was no way. The judge ruled that he should be detained for 14 days before returning to court with his lawyer. By God’s grace, he was eventually released, but the entire ordeal happened simply because the king felt he was being challenged.
