This morning, I woke up and went straight to the restroom to ease myself. On entering, I noticed that the floor was covered with water. "What could be the problem?" I asked myself.

At first, I thought the drain pipe was faulty. However, after checking it, I realized that the water was not coming from there. Then, I quickly noticed that water was dripping from the toilet tank, specifically from the hole where the nut holds it to the wall.

I opened the tank to check inside and saw that the water level had risen beyond its normal stopping point. This meant that the fill valve nut was worn out and could no longer control the water flow properly. I knew I had to fix this problem before leaving the house, or I would return to find the whole place flooded.

Esta mañana me he levantado y he ido directamente al baño para aliviarme. Al entrar, me di cuenta de que el suelo estaba cubierto de agua. "¿Cuál puede ser el problema?" me pregunté.

Al principio, pensé que la tubería de desagüe estaba averiada. Sin embargo, tras comprobarlo, me di cuenta de que el agua no salía de allí. Entonces, enseguida me di cuenta de que goteaba agua de la cisterna del inodoro, concretamente del orificio donde la tuerca lo sujeta a la pared.

Abrí la cisterna para comprobar el interior y vi que el nivel de agua había subido más allá de su punto normal de parada. Esto significaba que la tuerca de la válvula de llenado estaba desgastada y ya no podía controlar el flujo de agua correctamente. Sabía que tenía que solucionar este problema antes de salir de casa, o volvería y me encontraría todo inundado.

Simple Steps I Used to Fix It

1 . I opened the toilet tank/cistern.

2 . I adjusted the nut on the fill valve to the correct level, as shown in the picture below.

Simples pasos que utilicé para solucionarlo

1 . Abrí el tanque/cisterna del inodoro.

2 . Ajusté la tuerca de la válvula de llenado al nivel correcto, como se muestra en la imagen de abajo.

And that was it! No plumber, no extra expenses, just a few minutes of work, and the issue was fixed.

If you ever face a similar problem, check where the fault is and try this method too.

Y ya está. Sin fontanero, sin gastos adicionales, sólo unos minutos de trabajo, y el problema estaba solucionado.
