In one of my previous posts, I shared how I washed our water tank with the help of some friends without spending money to invite a plumber. During that process, I changed the filter without replacing it. Recently, I noticed that the water filter cover was looking a bit greenish, a clear sign that it was dirty and needed cleaning.

Note: To live a healthy life, drinking clean water is very important. To stay free from frequent illnesses like malaria and typhoid, drinking clean water should not be negotiable.

Since it was something I could handle myself, I saw no need to call a plumber. I decided to remove the cover and wash it. I got a clean sponge for the task. I didn’t use any detergent, but you may choose to if you prefer. Just make sure that after washing, you rinse it thoroughly to remove any chemical residue.

Steps I followed:

First, I turned off the water from the tank and removed the filter cover. Indeed, it was very dirty. I inserted the sponge into the cover and scrubbed it thoroughly until it became clean. I then used clean water to rinse it.

After that, I inspected the filter cap attached to the pipe and discovered that it was also dirty. I used the sponge again to scrub the cap well until it was clean. I then turned on the water from the pipe and allowed it to run, helping to clean the inside of the filter cap further. Once I noticed everything was clean, I fixed the filter cover back in place and turned the water back on.

Everything worked perfectly after that.

It was that easy, and I did it all by myself without spending a dime.

En uno de mis posts anteriores, compartí cómo lavé nuestro depósito de agua con la ayuda de unos amigos sin gastar dinero en invitar a un fontanero. Durante ese proceso, cambié el filtro sin sustituirlo. Recientemente, me di cuenta de que la tapa del filtro de agua tenía un aspecto un poco verdoso, señal inequívoca de que estaba sucia y necesitaba una limpieza.

Nota: Para llevar una vida sana, beber agua limpia es muy importante. Para mantenerse libre de enfermedades frecuentes como la malaria y la fiebre tifoidea, beber agua limpia no debe ser negociable.

Como era algo de lo que podía encargarme yo mismo, no vi la necesidad de llamar a un fontanero. Decidí quitar la tapa y lavarla. Cogí una esponja limpia para la tarea. No utilicé ningún detergente, pero usted puede elegir a si si usted prefiere. Sólo asegúrate de que después de lavarla, la enjuagas bien para eliminar cualquier residuo químico.

Pasos que seguí:

En primer lugar, cerré el agua del depósito y retiré la tapa del filtro. Efectivamente, estaba muy sucia. Introduje la esponja en la tapa y la froté a fondo hasta que quedó limpia. A continuación, la enjuagué con agua limpia.

Después, inspeccioné la tapa del filtro unida al tubo y descubrí que también estaba sucia. Volví a utilizar la esponja para frotar bien el tapón hasta que quedó limpio. A continuación, abrí el grifo de la tubería y dejé que corriera, lo que ayudó a limpiar aún más el interior del tapón del filtro. Cuando vi que todo estaba limpio, volví a colocar la tapa del filtro en su sitio y abrí de nuevo el grifo.
