DECISION
Source
The issues surrounding the choice of relocating to other countries or staying in your own country when you have the financial well withal is usually a dicey choice.
However, for me, relocating abroad has not always been something enthusiastic or intriguing. I do not fancy going outside to permanently live in some other country. Like the popular saying, "there's no place like home", there's a special kind of feeling you can only get in your country or home.
Reasons People Relocate
Some of the factors that have motivated the massive exodus of people from Nigeria to other countries have been the present economic hardship in Nigeria, high level of corruption, lawlessness, and insecurity. It is rather normal for people to desire to move to where they perceive they can get greener pastures and social safety.
Also, advancement in technology and development has made people prefer leaving the country as a good option. Some people desire to raise their children in an organized and developed environment where they will be exposed to recent scientific and technological facilities. While all of these are good, it is still worthy to note that there's no place like home.
So why would I choose to stay back here?
Nigeria’s Blessings and Opportunities
Nigeria, as far as I know, is among the countries in the world that is so blessed with good climatic condition, abundance of natural and human resources, which if well harnessed, can yield abundant harvest and increase economic productivity.
There are a lot of business and agricultural opportunities in this country. I would rather prefer to stay back here and invest my money into a viable agriculture business, develop a good value chain and build a good network of business, engage people, and ultimately build a business empire.
Statistics show that only about 20% of Nigeria's arable land has been cultivated . I stand to be corrected. So the agricultural opportunities in this land are vast and untapped, and I would rather key into this.
Self-Sufficiency and Lower Costs
Nigeria is also a country where you can choose to stay away or avoid some bills by improvisation. Due to inconsistent policies of government and lack of willpower to implement these plans and policies, many basic social amenities are not provided , like electricity, potable water, etc. Citizens have a way of providing alternatives for these in a supposedly cheaper way, though not always safe.
With adequate resources to stay back, I can decide to make provision for my electricity and water, thereby avoiding unnecessary outrageous billings in other countries.
Housing Advantage
In the area of accommodation, I know securing a good house in a foreign country can be challenging and expensive, especially in countries where rent is paid on a monthly basis. Whereas with the equivalent amount of money, I can acquire a land and build a comfortable house for myself and my family with minimal tax.
Taxation
The issue of taxation in other countries can be very draining. People earn so much there and in most cases so much is taken back by the government through high-level taxation. This is something that is not really obtainable in Nigeria.
In Nigeria, funnily enough, you can navigate your way through some excessive taxation, thereby giving you the opportunity to channel your resources to your personal needs.
Social and Cultural Life
Finally, the social life and cultural activities in Nigeria cannot be compared to foreign countries. Nigeria can never be a boring place when you have the needed resources to have fun. The cultural, religious, and social activities in this country are something I wouldn't want to miss for any reason.
I would rather stay back here.
