Dealing with the Heat
It's a pleasure to join this week's contest, and the topic is quite insightful. Personally, I don’t like heat because I sweat a lot. So whenever it’s the hot season, I try everything possible to combat the heat, as controlling it is essential for my comfort and well-being.
Interestingly, over here in my country, the heat is usually intense, and one must do everything possible to manage it. For me, the following strategies help me stay cool and keep my body temperature normal.
I make sure I don’t wear heavy clothes. I stick to light clothing, and sometimes I skip wearing a singlet if I’m not going to any serious place. I also avoid dark or black materials because black tends to absorb heat and increase discomfort.
During hot weather, I always keep my fan on. I don’t joke with it, so I ensure it’s running anytime I’m in my room. I also leave my window open to allow fresh air in. If there is a power failure, I use a hand fan or step outside to catch some breeze.
Staying hydrated is very important. I find myself getting thirsty often, so I make sure I drink enough water. It helps to cool my system and keep me refreshed. Sometimes I even add a little lemon or cucumber to my water to make it more soothing.
I bathe with cold water and ensure I do so at least twice a day. If I go out and return during the day, I take another bath to feel refreshed. A cool shower really makes a big difference.
I avoid walking under the sun unnecessarily. If a movement isn’t really important, I stay indoors and limit going out, especially between 12 p.m. and 4 p.m. That period is usually the hottest.
I also try to stay mentally cool by avoiding anything that can easily get me upset or stressed.
These are a few things I do to stay normal and comfortable during hot weather or when the heat becomes unbearable.
