But Unfortunately, Stress is Voiceless

In a bid to survive the harsh economy, many of us overwork ourselves. We stay up late at night doing tasks that will bring money. We spend extra hours in the office just to clear up our desks, only to fill them up again with more tasks. It gets worse if you are working in marketing and have targets to meet within a short time frame. The pressure that comes with this position is epic.

But while it is not good to be lazy, it is also wise to understand our body system and respond to it by managing our stress. This means responding to stress calls or screams. But unfortunately, since stress is voiceless, we tend to ignore its signals and keep overworking ourselves.

What is Stress?
Stress could be seen as the physical, mental, and emotional tension that shows up when the demands of life are more than what we can handle. It is a silent pressure we feel when we are overworked or mentally drained.

Stress is silent and can't scream out our names when we are overworking our bodies.

But if stress had a voice, it would scream, “Guy, slow down, you are carrying too much.”
If stress had a voice, it would whisper, “Young lady, don’t you think you are overworking yourself?”
If stress had a voice, it would say, “It’s time to go home, extra time in the office will not do you any good.”
If stress had a voice, it would say, “That your relationship is draining you mentally, you need to leave.”
If stress had a voice, it would say, “You need to sit out, exercise, travel, and have some fun with friends.”
If stress had a voice, it would definitely say a lot of things.

But unfortunately, stress is voiceless. That’s why it only communicates through symptoms like breakdown, burnout, tiredness, unhappiness, crying without reason, forgetting things easily, and losing motivation to do some things.

Dear friends, I have my own ways of managing stress. I think you should find yours too. Let’s learn to hear the silent whispers of stress before it screams. Let’s respond to those whispers with rest, support, love, and a change in how we live.

Life is too short to allow the sound of stress to grow louder because that sound will not place you in a perfect place. In my dialect, we say “Ibu unim ke nte’fon.”

Remember, if you don’t create time to rest, your body will find its own time to rest, and it might not be at a good time for you.

Being stressed out is also part of life, and the best way to release stress is to have better sleep, and that works perfectly fine with me though.
