Let’s forget about being biased here, but come to think of it, ibaha eyen akpe'kpongho afere eka, ake atoro afere eka owo mfen 🤣🤣, meaning no child will leave his mother’s soup to praise another person’s soup. So on that note, why will I leave my country’s music to praise another? 🤣🤣

But jokes aside, don’t get it twisted, Nigerians are exceptionally good when it comes to producing quality music. This doesn’t mean that other countries are not doing their best, but truth be told, Nigeria produces the best music. Be it traditional, gospel, secular, or any other genre, just give it to Nigeria.

Should we talk about the vibes and energy in our music? Nigerian artistes, DJs, and hype men bring so much energy into the music that even when you are not in the mood to dance, you will be moved to. Have you ever danced to the tune of amapiano with a good hype man on the mic? You will testify. They produce and mix it in such a way that it suits the moment. The sounds, instruments, and loop patterns blend perfectly. You may even catch yourself dancing unconsciously. That is the Nigerian magic.

Now let’s talk about our gospel music. Our gospel musicians are going global on a daily basis because of the kind of music they produce, with perfect sound, powerful vocals, and excellent instrumentation. They produce music that carries meaning and deep lyrics. One sweet thing about some Nigerian gospel songs is that they are multipurpose in nature. A single song can be used both as praise and worship. It can be rendered in any pattern such as makossa, ariaria, ekombi, gyration, reggae, and more. We are just too good.

How about our cultural music? The attires, the instruments, and the performance style are captivating. Even if you are not a fan of cultural music, you will be moved to dance. Sometimes you see people from other countries coming around just to watch, listen, and enjoy our cultural displays, and they dance along too. Nigerian cultural music has a heartbeat of its own, and when it plays, it connects directly with the soul.

Our artistes are constantly being invited to perform outside the country. I could mention a lot of names, but time might not permit 🤣🤣🤣. And you know the funny thing about Nigerians? We always add extra to everything we do. These days, our artistes even rap in our local dialects, and it sounds so good.

So when it comes to countries that produce great music, let’s just give it to Nigeria. We own the rhythm, the lyrics, the groove, and the heart of the sound.

Thanks for reading, I am @nsigo1.
