Conclave Arcana cards are awesome (but you still need Rebellion too)

Hey everyone, another Thursday, another Splinterlands blog post so welcome back!
With a couple of weeks in to the new set, the new cards and abilities are finally landing somewhere in my head so I can come up with teams when I see what rule set and available splinterlands there are, this took well over two weeks for me 😅 well... I'm not the youngest anymore!

It wasn't the most easy set to adjust to, with so many new abilities and synergies to learn and see what they do, and not only coming up with good teams myself but also adopting strategies my opponents used to kick my ass, in the battles, I could see what Conclave Arcana cards were need to have and so I slowly started to buy them to strengthen my deck and be more competitive because it's not always easy in Diamond 3 with a Silver level deck!

It's really cool the new Conclave Arcana Archons work in a very different way than their Rebellion counterparts, where the rare and legendary Rebellion Archons use tactics to be able to steer the battle in a positive way, the Conclave Arcana summoners work with added abilities when the monsters are from the same bloodline as the used Archon, for example a Gnome Archon (Razi Clanktrap) adds both the Close Range ability and the Painforge ability to other Gnome monsters in the team adding a whole new way to look at your team and although I don't use the CA archons myself, because I invested pretty heavily in to Rebellion archons and they work pretty well for me I love the way Splinterlands keeps renewing the game in cool ways.

New Splinterlands Marketplace!

Just a tip from me, check out Elmo Burns, it's the new Splinterlands marketplace and is launched as the new version for Aqualis Market, it's looks a lot better and it gives you a 70% fee rebate in DEC, which will be deposited back in your splinterlands account, pretty cool right!?

And no, I'm not sponsored for this in any way, I just like the fee rebate and the fact they burn SPS with the earnings with the remainder of the fee.

Conclave Arcana is cool, but you also need Rebellion!

For players only investing in the latest set, they will find out the older Rebellion cards are still needed as well, both card sets, together with the reward cards make a good competitive deck, I think the Splinterlands team did a good job by balancing this.

For this post I want to share a battle against a player who is using primarily CA cards, against a mostly Rebellion deck, as I said before I am slowly buying the cards I need, like the Fenmoor Wood Troll is the battle I will share for this post, at Silver level it has the Headwinds ability which is a game changer for archers only ruleset, together with the Rebellion archon Risqruel Drath - a ranged specialist it's a great combination.

For this post I want to share a battle I had 39 minutes ago, so a very fresh one! It's a Tis but scratches / going the distance battle in the Modern League, with all splinters allowed except for water. Since for ranged Risq. Drath is mostly my go to archon and both its used splinterlands Fire and Earth are allowed, it was an easy choice - I could see my opponent was using the CA summoners I'm still learning to deal with, so for now I'm just building the best teams I can and not think too much about what my opponent will play.

First look at the battlefield:

From the first look, I think I'm allright, we both have the need to have Fenmoor Wood Troll with headwinds, but since my opponent is using a higher level deck they have some advantage over my team, but because I'm bringing more cards with higher damage AND a healer, I think I'm fine anwyway, let's see!

The enemy card positioning is a bit odd I think, I would've placed the Wood Troll in second position with its high HP but that's just me...

My Line-Up:

  • Summoner: Risqruel Drath - reason: Ranged specialist with tactics, giving my entire team +1 ranged damage.
  • First position: Quillin Legionary - reason: Close range, good health to receive healing.
  • Second position: Fenmoor Wood Troll - reason: Headwinds, good secondary meat shield.
  • Third position: Muspelheim Demon - reason: Scattershot.
  • Fourth position: Rush Townsend - reason: High damage with ambush.
  • Fifth position: Satha Toledo - reason: Tank healer.
  • Sixth position: Gobson Sniper - reason: Sniper to take out enemy healers.

The Battle:

Round 1: Rush's ambush is a great start and a lot has already happened in the first round, killing off the enemy tank, leaving the low HP middle of the team exposed to be killed off fast, yeah, that Wood Troll should've definitely be at the second position but I'm not complaining!

image.png

Round 2: Gramel is a really nice cards I don't own (I'd wish!) but even against higher level cards, my team is doing pretty well, killing off enemy monsters one by one.

image.png

Round 3: Well, my tank died as well, and although the Wood Troll can't fire from the first position, it's still a nice meat shield getting healed every round and providing headwinds as long as it lives.

image.png

Round 4: Gramel is the only monster left, but with its 3 attack types it's still pretty dangerous, it won't be able to use the ranged attack, but the 2 melee and the 2 magic, combined with the execute so it will fire again, killing my Wood Troll it's still pretty dangerous on its own.

image.png

Round 5: Oh, Gramel missed its melee attack so it wasn't able to pull off the execute as well and it got killed right after that, it's a win!

You can watch the battle unfold for yourself here.

500 glint and 6 SPS is pretty nice and more than I expected to earn with my Silver level deck before the changes, it seems the earnings are a bit lower now the Wild League has the 2k DEC Wild Pass requirement again, so more players are playing in the Modern League again, I'm fine with any earnings, I'm just having fun! 😍

Well, that's it for today everyone, thanks for stopping by, it's almost time to make dinner for my family and after dinner, it's brawl time!

I agree on both counts! Also the Fenmore troll is a great card. The blind is great in a no magic rule set since it gives that extra bit of dodge.
