was this the 10+ Km run you were talking about you were going to do? In that timeframe I can only run about 10, so you are faster than me. I am doing a reasonably good job at pacing, but I still need a bit of work. Like most people I tend to start out too fast and gas our after about 5k, then keep going and by the time I finish I am sure I look like a crippled old guy that is being chased by zombies

I tend to do 6 or 7km runs in the week and then at least 10km at the weekend. Starting too fast is a common mistake and I do it too. I take a while to warm up and get going properly. I'm worn out by the end, but then I can take time to recover, although I may well have jobs to do. I'll keep on trying to do this to maintain my fitness and not worry too much about things like races.

well the few races I have been in I was never going to win. I always say that I am in it to complete, not to compete.
That's a good attitude.
