Transportations By Land Are The Most Adventurous

Talking about Travels, I think I have got enough experiences to share because I have been a traveler all my life. There are 36 states in my country Nigeria, and out of these 36 states, I have visited more than 30 states and explored their various communities. The nature of my job is the biggest reason for my travels, because as a military personnel, we are sent for peace-keeping missions everywhere and anywhere (including missions outside the country).

Even at an early age of around 5, my dad would travel with me to faraway places by bus, and while traveling, he would be showing me unique places and popular joints around the country. From that tender age, I became obsessed with traveling, as I began to see it as entertainment to not just my eyes but also to my soul.

There are several means of transportation, ranging from cars, airplanes, ships, bikes, buses, boats, train and trucks. Growing up I was more conversent with ships and boats because I grew up in a riverine area where the major mode of transportation was water.

Back then in my community, the people had no other option but to patronize the water mode of transportation, and so in those days I used to witness how market women would gather all their goods and put them into a big boat going to the bigger market in the city for trading. Every family had at least one small boat for their personal activities and businesses.

But as I migrated out of my state and joined the military, I discovered that the major mode of transportation here in the Army is usually done by land, where we use more of Gun-trucks, Armor-tanks, and Helux for our daily movements and convoy across our duty locations.

Depending on the mission, we mostly make use of Heluxes for Patrols and social displays. Most of our vehicles like the Gun-trucks and Heluxes are used for long distance movement. Like the last peace-keeping mission we went to from Cross River State to Kaduna it was a journey of about 600km.

Long distance travel by road could be very stressful and traumatizing especially if it's your first time going that long distance. I think over the past few years of my life, I have traveled more on bus than on any other means of transportation. And whenever am traveling by bus, I love staying at the front seat of the bus with the driver because I would want to see everything that is happening in front of us, even before any other passenger notices anything.

Sometimes if I don't sit in the front seat with the driver, I would make sure I stay near an open window where I can view every moving object and people around. This has been a part of me because what is the essence of traveling without feeding my eyes and minds with things happening around the country.

Everytime I travel, I always observe that people tend to always sleep in the bus, and I begin to wonder why I couldn't sleep in the bus while traveling no mater how hard I try. Maybe it's because deep down within me, I know if I sleep I would miss out on beautiful places and activities.

So far I have traveled by train, boats and buses, where the most scariest for me was by water (boat), the most entertaining was by buses and the most adventurous was the train movements. My train journey is a story for another day because on that day we were attacked by bandits

I am yet to travel by plane because am waiting for the right time when I would travel out of the country, lol. I know transport by air is the most most expensive and scariest, so let's just say am preparing my mind for that moment, hehe.

Haaaa! When you mentioned about your travelled state, fear catch me. Until you pointed out your type of job.

I used to like traveling by land, I mean by car but ever since nauseating became my thing, I trashed it off.
Now, it's flight or I'm not doing 😎

You’re in the military? I didn’t know that. Sitting in front is always ideal. I prefer it to. Sometimes I pay for two seats just to enjoy the ride well.

hehe, another billionaire. I have met people like you who pay for more than one seat just to enjoy their journey. You guys are the sweetest, you make the bus less congested, lol.

Traveling is fun, it creates long-lasting experiences, the sites you see, the people you come across along the line, the new cultures you experience and you just think about yours.
