Natural Foods Are The Best

I am from Nigeria and if there's anything I have learned over the past 8 years of former president Buhari's regime, it's that farming is the major hope of the common man. Initially, they had said petroleum was our main source of income, but that has changed now because many people have realized and gone back to the main source designed by God to get food.
While growing up, it's funny how I thought farming was meant only for poor people who weren't opportune to get jobs from the government. But when the former President of my country made the economy unbearable for us all, even the rich ran to secure lands for farming, hehe.
Although I come from a riverine area where fishing is our major occupation, we still practice farming every single year. Some of the major foods we produce are cassava, yam, potatoes, corn (maize), and various kinds of vegetables and herbs.
Sometimes I wonder how the magic happens when we would just plant a seed on the ground and boom it would grow into something bigger just like that. I even got to understand that when we plant seeds on the ground the seed would first be turned to dust before it forms into food. What an interesting mystery that happens on the ground.
I do not personally have a farm of my own yet, but I support my mum whenever she goes to the farm to plant the food seeds. The favorite foods I love harvesting are mainly corn and yams. Sometimes when I get to the farm, I would make sure all the corns are growing well because I have my personal plans of devouring them when they are mature, hehe.

The feelings I get when harvesting yams are so satisfying, especially when the harvested yams are coming out bigger than we expected. These new yams are not usually as sweet as the ones that have already been harvested for long because these new ones are not tried up enough.
One of the most abundant foods we plant is called *cassava. For me cassavas are the easiest to plant and maintain because their seeds are just in the form of a stick, they can grow anywhere and at any time of the year, unlike corn and yam which are planted in seasons.
We usually start planting these yams by January and February, and before the month of August, it would be harvesting and celebration periods. We usually have new yam festivals to celebrate the blessings of the Lord through our farm produce.
As I stated in my title, natural foods remain the best and most healthy kinds of food for our bodies. Legend has it that the major reason why our forefathers were far stronger than us even in their old age was because they patronized only natural foods.
No wonder those guys lived so long before they died, unlike the people of my generation who mostly patronize packed or junk foods. Some of these packed foods are preserved with chemical substances, and over time these substances could be harmful to our bodies if we continue with them.
If we are being sincere to ourselves, we would all agree that nothing beats natural foods, and the best way to get these natural foods is through having our own garden and planting seeds and crops in them.
Another interesting thing about farming is that it isn't just a means of livelihood or for family consumption alone, but it can also be a means of income for an individual. I have a friend who uses his garden to plant only cocoa crops, and now he gets more than $500 for every bag of cocoa seeds he sells.
Cash crops like Cocoa and palm kernel are foods that I desire to plant in my garden in the nearest future, because they can be exported out of the country for good income. If I had written this post a few years back, I would have been telling us that getting a garden and planting natural foods is a waste of time and energy, but thank God I understand the significance of natural foods now, and how to get them as well.

The day the world understands once and for all that the natural community is what really matters, we will have a better and healthier planet.
Many people have missed it, and the love for the natural things of life is waxing cold as the year goes by. We need to embrace back the natural community.
It's really amazing how a simple seed can frow into something more magnificent, it's really like magic and boom. Although we still have to give more care when we plant them coz you know, number one enemy of farmers are pests. They would also get hald of what we planted if didn't take care of them. But anyways, farming also require a hard labor but it is all worth if we get a bountiful harvest.
Awwwn some farming guidelines from my favourite Hive friend ❤️. I usually run away from the labor when it begins to get too hard, but I love harvesting so much, hehe. You are very correct friend, maximum care and time is what a plant majorly requires.
I agree. Today, our country is lack of farmers and it so sad to hear it. @normalyf
We just hope a greater percentage of people would see the need to embrace farming again
Yes ma'am @normalyf . Hoping for a change too. 😊
