I tend to hear people make statements like "I woke up on the right hand side of the bed this morning" and to them it is an indicator of a successful day ahead. Although I do not literally predict the outcome of my day by the side of the bed I wake up from because I don't even know which side of the bed I woke up from this morning.

However, from the moment I open my eyes to the moment I close them at night, I have a clear vision of what I want to accomplish and how I want things to go right for it to be called a perfect day.

For me, a perfect day could be detected from those quiet early hours of the morning because it’s in these peaceful moments that I find clarity and purpose, setting a positive plan for the hours ahead.

In mornings when my mind is clear and my sleep is restful, I tend to wake up as early as 5AM for some meditations and reflections. And it's in this moments that I focus on gratitude for my previous accomplishments as well as setting goals I wish to achieve throughout the day.

Sometimes a perfect day starts in our heads and imaginations before turning into reality by our actions. For instance, if I wake up feeling depressed, the best solution that usually comes to my head during my meditation period is to go outing with friends or family during that day. I have observed that going out for the outing would make my day perfect, but neglecting to go usually adds to my depression.

All am trying to point out here is that a day can be called perfect when all the aspirations and plans of the morning or previous day is accomplished before the night of the current day. Yeah, we know everyday is a special day but there are days when we accomplish high levels of achievements in our lives and these days are regarded as perfect days for us.

A good example of one of such days was the day I graduated from the higher institution. It was on a Friday morning and it felt like the perfect day for me because I needed all the rest I could get from the next day (Saturday) moving forward.

I had been looking forward to the day I would sign out from the trauma and mental stress of a Nigerian institution, and everyday I wake up I look forward to that day, and when it finally came, it was a day of joy and fulfilment for me. What day could be a more perfect than such a day?

It was a perfect day because it was the end of a successful phase and the beginning of a new dawn. Going to a military secondary school and finishing off in a Federal higher institution was a nice experience and achievement for me.

I got to know by experience that going to school isn't easy, especially in this part of the world, and I believe those with experiences can attest to that. Someone even told me that reading of books is harder than going to war, and I couldn't argue. No wonder the saying "the pen is mighter than the gun."

Another major way of achieving a perfect day is by engaging in your favourite hobby with friends and family members. Staying connected with our loved ones has a positive impact on our days and our lives in general. Even if it's just a little chat or game, it tend to always do the magic of improving our moods for rest of the day.

I got to know by experience that hobbies are not just what we love doing during our leisure times, they are gateways to our moods. And this hobbies are more special and fulfilling when engaged with friends or family members.

So whenever am seeking to have a perfect day, I call out to some of my friends and we go outing. Sometimes to play snooker or have a drink and chat. I usually feel like my day was perfect after such experiences.
