Why Next Season Will Be a Tough Battle for Liverpool as Manchester City Resurges
It is about one month and a week until the start of the new football season. The FIFA Club World Cup is going fine, and for some reason, I don't have interest in the competition, or maybe it's because Liverpool and Barcelona are not in the competition, or maybe it doesn't have that much aura. This competition has received backlash from different fans, and some complaints are about the football season calendar being too much for the players. I have my take on that because honestly, I don't see the reason for the complaints when players are asking for a high wage pay, so if they are getting paid that high, then why the complaints? But that is a story for another day.
Liverpool will be starting the new season as defending champions of the Premier League, and I have to say this coming season will be different from last, as this time we will be in for a hard competition. Last season, Manchester City were out of form, which is why they had no real chase to the title race, and one of the reasons City had issues was due to injuries to one of their key players, Rodri as the Ballon d'Or winner, who has been critical of Pep Guardiola's team, picked up an ACL injury in the early stages of the season, which saw the Spanish midfielder miss the rest of the season. Pep Guardiola was also having some personal issues, which have been fixed now.
Manchester City are no doubt a formidable team, and I am sure they will give a lot of trouble in the coming season. It is not just a fluke because their performance in the FIFA Club World has been incredible with what I have read so far on X. I was intrigued to check out the highlights of their last match against Juventus, and I can, for certain, say Pep Guardiola has built up another monster team. Manchester City has been active in the transfer market since the January transfer window, and they still went on to sign more players in the summer transfer market before the Club World Cup.
This is why I applaud the effort Liverpool is making in signing a player this summer window to strengthen the team for next season. Liverpool rivals are stacking up, which shows why the board must not relax and offer everything Arne requests for in his project. Liverpool has to match up with what Manchester City is doing because this season, the team can go for another three-peat of winning the Premier League title again. Arne Slot has a lot of work to do next season in defending the title and also doing well in all competitions.
Liverpool is not done yet in the transfer window, like I reported, as Marc Guehi is their next target this summer. There is still no concrete update on whether Liverpool will go for a striker, but I think it will happen soon. So, guys, that will be all for now. Thanks for stopping by, and have a good day.
