Road TO Munich
Good day, everyone, and welcome to my blog. The Champions League this week had everything from incredible goals, intensity, and drama, and at the end, a winner from each fixture emerged. Atletico Vs Real Madrid match has been talked about much since it took place on Wednesday night in the Metropolitano stadium( Atletico Madrid home ground). The talk centred around Alvarez's penalty goal being cancelled by the VAR during the penalty shoot-out between both teams.
It brought out a lot of controversy about Real Madrid 15 Champions League title and how they have been robbing teams in the past. Real Madrid goalkeeper Thibaut Courtois said in a post match interview that constant nagging about the refereeing decisions is just a way for the options to complain instead of facing their loss and it's kind of ironic that this same person complained so weeks ago when Jude Bellingham was sent of for talking bad to the referee.
Real Madrid will always be in any controversy talk concerning referees, and that is just the truth, but let's leave that for now. FC Barcelona qualified for the next round of the Champions League and will be facing Dortmund. This will be the second time both sides will face each other in the competition this season. Barcelona got the better of Dortmund at their home stadium this year as the Catalan giant beat the German side 3-2 away from home. I can still remember the scenes for the match and how Ferran Torres coming off the bench to score two crucial goals that won the match for the Catalan side.
Dortmund made a decent team, and I would say they should not be taken lightly by Hansi Flick and the boys. Dortmund will cause problems for Barcelona that, for sure, especially their attack as they have in of the inform strikes in the league this season. Barcelona will go through to the next round of the competition that is for sure because the team synced as every player is doing their job on the field except for Lewandoski who I honestly don't know he is doing on the pitch because he has failed to convert chances given to him into goals.
There are other interesting fixtures for the round of sixteen, and one of them is Arsenal Vs Real Madrid. What make this fixture one to watch is the fact that Real Madrid has not beaten Arsenal in the Champions League before and I know some will say Arsenal ha not been in the UCL for a while but the fact is through Real Madrid has never gotten the best of Arsenal. Arteta has a lot on his hands as his side will be going against a front three that can punish the Arsenal defenders.
If the Gunners manage a chance to knock out Madrid in the next round, they will blow the internet up. It is going to be an incredible match, and I look forward to watching it soon. So, guys, that will be all for now. Thanks for stopping by, and have a good day.
