Liverpool's Summer Spending Spree: Navigating PSR While Lyon Faces Financial Fallout

Good day everyone. Today I was looking at Liverpool's spending so far when I saw a headline that says Liverpool can still spend up to 200 million euros this summer and will still be PSR compliant. The PSR means Profitability and Sustainability Rules, as it is quite simple compared to the UEFA FFP set up, but this is within the Premier League. Liverpool, no doubt, is having a blast this summer on transfers and has spent almost 200 million euros on bringing new players into the club. At some point after the Florian Wirtz deal completion, I was wondering if the club has not bridged some of the laws set in place when it comes to spending funds.

There is no news on the current mischief that has happened with French club Lyon, which has been relegated by the French football authority because of its financial situation at the moment. Lyon is experiencing bankruptcy as they are half a million in debt and have been asked by the French football authority to prove how they will stay consistent in the league with their financial issues, but the club has failed to bring any concrete proof of how they will sustain which has led them to being relegated to Ligue 2. The French club has been actively selling some of their players to generate funds and I can tell it will not be an easy ride for them in the next two to three years.

The quality in the team will drop, and they could even get relegated if they underperform this coming season. This is why the FFP and PSR are important in modern-day football to control club spending in order not to have cases like Lyon. Liverpool still has the free pass to spend 200 million as a result of the profit they made last season, and their loss was not that much last season. Liverpool made a lot of profit last season as they made over 180 million euros for winning the EPL, plus getting a bonus for reaching the round of sixteen in the UEFA Champions League and not to mention other endorsement deals, jersey sales, ticket sales and many more.

Liverpool are not done this summer transfer window and with still having the space to spend 200 million euros I don't think we should be surprised if they move for Isak which might be unlikely now considering Newcastle United are planning a new deal which will see him become the highest paid player at the club, but still nothing is being ruled out yet as it could happen if Liverpool are ready to begin talks with Newcastle United. The Reds are one to watch this summer which is why I will be keeping a close watch on all their summer dealings until deadline day.

There are still going to be expected departures from the club this summer. It's just a matter of time before Napoli enter talks with Liverpool for Darwin Nunez, and other names like Federico Chiesa and Harvey Elliott are expected to leave for an important price. So that will be all for now. Thank you for taking the time to stop by, and have a good day.
