Liverpool Push for Isak Sparks Transfer Battle with Newcastle over Ekitike
The transfer market just got more interesting this week. About 24 days ago I wrote a post about how Liverpool and Manchester United see Alexander Isak as a dream signing, but nothing has been done by the club to push for a bid to sign the striker. I also mentioned last week how Liverpool still has 200 million euros to spend this summer window due to their PSR which means they haven't broken any rule on financial fair play. Today just got a lot more interesting as Liverpool are ready to sign Alexander Isak this summer as they won't have the striker at the club at any cost this summer.
Newcastle United stands have not changed about not letting Isak leave this summer as they won't keep the player at the club. Now here is the twist to this story that I found interesting. Newcastle United is interested in signing Hugo Ekitike this summer and has already offered a bid of 80 million euros for the player. However, Liverpool has an interest in Ekitike and will only enter the rest to sign the player if Newcastle United still don't want to sell Isak this summer, so basically Liverpool is telling Newcastle either they accept the bid for Alexander Isak or they enter a bidding war with them for Hugo Ekitike this summer.
Liverpool has had a club-to-club talk with Newcastle United offering a record signing of 120 million euros for Alexander Isak if they open the doors to negotiating for the player. This amount is huge as Newcastle will be making a profit off Isak and could even ask close to 150 million euros from Liverpool if possible. It is going to be a huge decision for Newcastle, still a couple of weeks to either sell Isak or enter a bidding war with Liverpool, and honestly, they should not plan on entering that bidding war with Liverpool this summer.
The Reds have money to spend, and they have that pull to attract players into the club, and they desperately need a new striker at the club since Darwin Nunez is leaving this summer. Alexander Isak is an incredible player, and he would fit perfectly well in Liverpool under Arne Slot. I would prefer the club to go for him rather than Hugo Ekitike. It would be one of the most successful summers for Liverpool if they were able to get Isak into the team.
This story is one to watch for this summer and I am eager to see how things develop in the coming weeks. It all depends on Newcastle's decision at this point up to Newcastle to explore all possibilities on this deal. If they let Isak go, then they will earn profits from his sale and use it to facilitate Hugo Ekitike, but if they don't, then there is going to be a bidding war. This will be all for now, and I will be dropping updates on this story if anything develops. Thanks for stopping by and have a good day.
