Liverpool In The Race To Sign Marc Guehi
Good day, everyone, and welcome to another update on Liverpool's move in the transfer market. One week ago, I gave an update on former Liverpool centre-back Jarell Quansah's move to Bayer Leverkusen this summer. Today, the Englishman has completed his medicals with Bayer Leverkusen and has signed a four-year deal with the club. Liverpool has a buy-back clause of 60-70 million euros with add-ons, and it will officially be effective from 2027, plus they still have a percentage in future sales, along with the deal.
The deal is finalised, and now Liverpool can focus on getting Marc Guehi from Crystal Palace as a potential backup for the Liverpool defence next season. Marc Guehi has been on Liverpool's radar for a long time as he is at the top of the shortlist for centre backs this summer. The Crystal Palace player, as I reported, has a year left on his contract with Liverpool, but the Reds are not willing to wait that long to sign the player. There have been contacts, but nothing concrete yet has begun between Liverpool and Marc Guehi but that could change this week.
Crystal Palace are asking for a fee of 45-50 million euros for the player, and it seems like Liverpool is not willing to pay that amount, as they want the fee to be lower. It just proves that club-to-club negotiations have begun, but there is no information yet on personal terms or whether the player is willing to join Liverpool this summer. There are still other players on Liverpool's shortlist, which is still unknown, yet they might go for an alternative if they can come to an agreement with Crystal Palace for a lesser fee this summer. This negotiation could speed up depending on how Liverpool wants to get the deal done, as Marc Guehi is a top player and would offer more on the pitch for the Reds.
The summer window is long, like I always said, for weeks now. There is time for Liverpool to explore more options that suit their budget as they still have 200 million euros to spend in the summer market. There will be more talks between both clubs this week, and we may hear if Marc Guehi has accepted personal terms with Liverpool, which will make the deal smooth, and if Crystal Palace are willing to reduce the price, then it won't take long for the deal to be done. Apart from the Marc Guehi deal, Liverpool seems to be in the race to sign Hugo Ekitike.
This is just a rumour, as nothing has been confirmed yet by Fabrizio Romano, but I will be keeping an eye on that part of the story. Hugo Ekitike will be a great signing if Liverpool can pull this move with Frankfurt, but multiple clubs are interested in signing Ekitike, so he is one to watch out for this summer. So, guys, that will be all for now. Thanks for stopping by and have a good day.
